Jackie Chain - Certified Sh*t
Artist: Jackie Chain
Featuring: Rittz , Jarren Benton , Young Scolla
Producer: SMKA
Album: The 808 Experiment Vol. 3
Label: Universal Republic
What could be better than a fresh new feature from the second most hilariously-named artist in DJBooth.net history? No, not one from the first most hilariously-named artist – though I do eagerly await the return of Fidel Cashflow. Instead, how about some Certified Sh*t from Jackie Chain, plus three Booth-acclaimed guests? The latest leak off the beatsmiths’ 808 Experiment Vol. 3 mixtape, this cut finds SMKA cooking up a sizzling percussion/synth backdrop for the lyrical stunting of Chain and a few fresh cohorts. The hyperkinetic flows of Slumerican emcee Rittz (of White Jesus fame) and Huffing Glue With Hasselhoff rapper Jarren Benton prove perfectly-matched to the Southern-fried boardwork, and Young Scolla (another freestyle alum) adds a dash of Motown flair in his equally energetic closing verse. So, does this joint earn the DJBooth.net Certification of Excellence? As always, it’s up to you to issue the final verdict. For more hot beats and fresh guest features, check out the latest installment in SMKA’s The 808 Experiment saga when it hits the ‘net April 26.

Interesting mix of artists on "Certified Sh*t," a song that is topically cliche but executed here in hella entertaining fashion. For my money, Rittz' rapid-fire verse impressed the most. I would have had him or Benton open the track, since their delivery and energy would have kicked off the song on a much better note.

Had higher expectations for this song, but Rittz did work on his verse. Other than that, wasn't too impressed by this song.

I can hear Pimp C all over the 1st verse (RIP). I can dig it for what it's worth, everybody got off in their own way respectively. I'd bang it.

SMKA produced another quality track, but the verses aren't impressive. Rittz carried the song, but his verse still wasn't all that special. Nothing about this song stands out to me.

I'm feeling the hook and the energy that everybody brings to the table. The production is ok...doesnt really make or break the song. Also, this sounds like a song T.I would rip apart....

Preciate the Booth for the post...Richard great write up. Its actually the homie Jarren Benton who closes the song with the third verse and myself on the hook.
Thanks to everyone who checked out the record |
