Jabee - Imagination
Artist: Jabee
Featuring: Carlitta Durand
Producer: Ira G.
Album: Lucky Me
Label: Caraway 1965
How could a record be better than up-and-coming Oklahoma City emcee JABEE’s last Booth approved effort Better? You’ll just have to use your Imagination. (Shout out to me for the puns.) Making its worldwide premiere right here, right now, Imagination brings back singer Carlitta Durand for yet another beautiful hook (seriously, we need a solo track from her) for an ode to making your dreams a reality. With a theme like that it’s only fitting that producer Ira G. chose to use a Kanye West vocal sample to weave in and out of the pounding yet oddly serene beat. Lyrically, JABEE both looks back at where he’s come – apparently Selena wouldn’t even give him the time of day – and more importantly, envisions the future laying spread out before him: “If I can dream it I can make it, see it I can take it.” If you’re digging this dopely inspirational jam, I can only imagine how much you’ll enjoy JABEE’s upcoming “it’s not a mixtape, it’s an album” Lucky Me, co-presented by IM King and dropping on DJBooth November 3.

Jabee plays the role of inspirational leader over some enjoyable production from newcomer Ira G. And how about Ms. Carlitta Durand? I echo Nathan's sentiments - we need a solo feature from her sooner rather than later.
Good stuff. |

this is my favorite Jabee track i've ever heard. being an Oklahoman myself, I love hearing this type of music from my homies Jabee and Ira.
Carlitta kills the hook also! |

This is a solid track, but the sound quality doesn't seem to be the greatest. Nonetheless, JABEE does his best spitting some inspirational lines, the vocals on the hook worked decently with the track, and I thought the sample was a great choice.

I thought the hook and Kanye sample worked relatively well on this. JABEE came with some nice bars, but I couldn't help but lose interest after the first minute or so. "Imagination" is a good thing, as is JABEE's take on spitting pure inspiration.

If JABEE keeps putting out music like this it won't be long before he joins the ranks of other much buzzed about up and comers. I think I might just make this the song my alarm plays every morning, thanks for the inspiration man.

I really like the beat/sample. Ms. Durand, amazing. Overall good, but seemed a little too 'serene' for me tho, nothing stood out (aka forgettable).

For me this a 2.5-er. Its better then ok, but its not quite for rotation yet. The singer of the hook compleely outshined Jabee's verses. I also vote for a solo feature for her on the booth.
