James Watts - A Better Tomorrow
Artist: James Watts
Producer: J.A.M.E.S. Watts
Album: Unreleased
Label: Unsigned
Although the ‘08 Best of the Booth award winners were announced only two days ago, we’re already seeing heavy competition for ‘09’s underground categories. Previously heard on Mickey Factz’ Jimmy Choo’s, triple-threat rapper/singer/producer J.A.M.E.S. Watts makes his solo Booth debut with a previously unreleased record on which he rhymes about the social ills that plague modern society. Rather than despairing, however, the Jersey native predicts that the present dark night will soon give way to A Better Tomorrow. Watts’ sample of The Miracles’ Give Me Just Another Day (which Don Cannon used previously on Young Jeezy‘s Mr. 17.5) shows a lot about his passion for the old-soul music, and his determination to take over the new school. So, Booth-heads, do you think we have an early candidate for Best New Artist (Unsigned) 2009?

The production/sample is pretty dope. The hook is not good. It's outta tune. It's only an okay joint.

Watts performed and produced this joint; the man has talent. I love the samples, the production is really clever. The vocals could be stepped up a notch, but this is just a throwaway track to say "whats up world, look at me".
Keep it locked to the Booth for some more work from this talented up-in-comer. |

This is ok, sample is good, his rapping was cool, hook was not all that great, but I can see there is potential. Room for improvement as well.

What does J.A.M.E.S. stand for? Love that Don Cannon sample, however it really just made me want to turn this off and listen to Jeezy.

This song is really good. I'm not crazy for the sample but the beat is super and he sounds good. He really can sing, above all in the verses, and he can also rap. I'm not convinced about the hook but it isn't so bad, I've heard worse
