The 29th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of J The S, the underground rapper who recently earned reader acclaim for My Will mixtape cuts Oil, Automatic, and My Thing.  The Boston native, who flows over an original instrumental by Midi Marc on his brand new, previously-unreleased A New War freestyle, is currently working on The Last Days LP, a full-length album set for release sometime this year.

Dude held his own lyrically. Not the hottest of the hot, but solid contribution to the series.

I like this dude ... his lyrics/flow is tight on here but other than that the production is pretty weak... but still this is an "Automatic" banger to ma ears ...

I wish this was a little longer - I was just gettin' into it when the Last Days promo began at the tail end. Overall, I like his flow and his wordplay was creative. A true freestyle.

Thanks, J.

Hmm....I gotta agree with cb. It's not the hottest by a longshot. But...well, it's not horrible. The production, however, is nothing short of crap. He needs some better production next time to back up his flow. 2.9, but I won't be listening to this again.

I have to say that while the beat is unquestionably fly, the flow seemed a touch awkward and slightly forced. Overall, I believe this joint may have fared better in the sight of my ears had J employed more of a swing in his delivery or his delivery had been complimented with a beat which demanded less fluidity from an mc.
