While the word, “Wonderland” generally has positive connotations, the kingdom Alice visited in Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s books was actually a pretty f**king scary place, where beheadings are an everyday occurrence and eating or drinking the wrong thing can shrink you down to nothingness. The place J NICS describes on his latest feature, the inaugural song release of his forthcoming mixtape with DJ Burn One, is much less whimsical but equally perilous. Backed by his partner’s low-key street production, the Southern phenom rhymes about the Machiavellian treachery that reigns supreme both on the block and in the music game. Has this moody selection left you craving more? While Darkside has yet to receive a drop date, you can stay tuned to The DJBooth for release details, as well as the latest jams.

J's vocal demands you listen. I also loved the line about not automatically calling him gangsta because of his vocal or the topical matter.
And don't forget, we are giving DJBooth members a chance to win SOL REPUBLIC headphones just for leaving feedback/ratings on all our daily music features! |

I first heard of J. Nics through a rapper named Phresh James. The two are very gifted emcees, but with that said and done, the emotion J. Nics portrays on this song is clearly evident from start to finish. Production was spot on as was the hook, which I actually really enjoyed.

J nics lyrics are truth. Everything about him feels real and his flow is dope. The beat was good but the message of this track is what got me.
