It seems J-Kwon can’t catch a break these days. Since his 2004 hit, Tipsy, the STL MC has fallen off the radar; watching his sophomore album Louisville Slugger get shelved, and then getting dropped from the So So Def roster. Since then, he has started his own label, Hood Hop Entertainment, planning to get rid of his “one-hit wonder” status with the new single, Who U Talkin To?. Gone is his old hip-pop steeze, replaced with a gruff hardcore sound. Kwon takes his opportunity to vent and like Papoose, is more lyrically skilled when angry. The public will have to wait until next year though to find out whether he can regain his hit power; Man In Da Mirror is currently set to drop in early 2008.
Definitly passed my expectations for JKwon. Not anywhere close to radio though.
JKwon, the 'steets are mine' is a lie and you know it! I get real annoyed that all these no name rappers say that
this is an aight song.. the beat is tight... and even tho i think he went a bit ova da top the anger in his voice is aight.. and dont b hatin on da hook eithr its pretty good
I really wanted him not to be a one-hit wonder because I thought he had something special there; but I might be wrong. This track is a good addition to a full album, but by itself its not saying much...
DAMN! nate you took the words right of my screen. one for the beat.
TURE STORY:
He came to a club i was at. Me and two friends of mine was out back waiting for the let out and he came out the back, he saw us. (i'm guessing) he must've though we was going to try him because as soon he seen us he ran, yes, RAN back in the club. he jammed his hand and everything to catch the door before it closed. we didn't even pay attention to him until we saw him run back. AND HE HAD BODYGUARDS!!!How tough is that.
you should've seen him. he did that stutter/start up your engines/backing up run. like he knew an ass whooping was coming. you know like when you see a tidal wave coming and you want to watch but you need to run. that type off run. lol
Itz okay.. the beat is nice, n lyrics tight, but even though J Kwon is tryin hard 2 sound hard n angry like it just doesnt klik... itz missing somtin 2 be a classic but still a def great song by Mr. Kwon... all in all itz a good track... (better then his "tipsy")
Niggaz wanna hate on da Lou... Wait til my mixtape "The Archnemesis" Drops... (In July) My single gon be on here den who gon say St.Louis one hit wonders? SOUTHSIDE YA DIG!!
