J-Eye - I Get Around
Artist: J-Eye
Producer: CBE
Album: Welcome 2 Hitland
Label: One Way Entertainment
It can be argued that the industry’s favorite kind of artist is the “slash” type (singer/rapper/songwriter/producer), because even if one of these categories fails to develop into a career, the individual in question still has other musical occupations to fall back on. One such quadruple-threat up-and-comers is J-EyE, who just returned to his hometown of Brooklyn after several months working with Timbo, Danja, Missy, Birdman, and Mannie Fresh (to name a few), and is now promoting I Get Around, the first single off his forthcoming album, Welcome 2 Hitland. Smoothly transitioning between pop-rap verses and a sung bridge and hook, J-EyE lets listeners know just how much he enjoys the fast life and all its luxurious trimmings. Produced by CBE, I Get Around should have no problem getting rotation in upscale clubs nationwide—and hey, if few major label execs find themselves moving to the music, the rest may be history!

The only song I will ever think of when I hear "I Get Around" is by 2pac. With that said, this isn't half bad. It's a simple, poppy-club jam that can be enjoyed by all the females (and the males if they get excited over their city being called out - Chicago, what?).
I'd like to hear more from J-Eye before I make all final judgments on him as an emcee. |

A typical club song, what's to expect? It's always difficult to judge an artist's skill on a club song because there's limitations. You can't snap Lupe style unless you're Lupe himself in a club song.

I second Z... that's the 1st thing that came to mind.
This sounds like some typical club/pop rap, but its a track that I wouldnt mind hearing a few times. Not my type of track AT ALL, but that doesnt mean its not worthy of rotation. |

This wasn't bad at all, but Pac was the first thing I thought of when I saw this, too. That being said, I enjoyed this track. Good club beat and J-EyE was decent. Rotation.

Haha Z that's what I was thinking, and the 2pac one happens to be on my top 5 all time hip hop favs. But this one, meh, the production was solid, but the rest just mediocre.

Production is very hot! Chorus is nice and the verses are alright. It sounds pretty fresh to the ears to me so I like it.

Great production on this although not great enough for it to be considered anythings special. Average lyricism and average hook (city shout-outs..) discussing average themes. It's not bad, but it's not great either...for his sake, I hope that J-EyE can come up with something fresher in the future or else he'll just be forgotten along with so many other average emcees or "slash" artists for that matter. I'll sit with Z and reserve final judgement until I hear future releases.
Say average one more time. |

I too agree with Z. I won't make my judgement until his third track he throws out. But, as far as first impressions go, he's on the fence for me. Production is very enjoyable. But his flow is...mediocre, for lack of a better word. Come harder on your flow next time, EyE. I really wanna like you. In rotation.

I'm feeling the chorus...it has a catchy vibe. His audience will be a toss up...it doesn't really speak out to one audience. His voice does nothing for me...there's nothing special about it. I really don't see him making it big. His voice isn't that great and this single isn't that hot either. I'll only remember this song because of the chorus...even though the song is off the chorus is replaying in my head as we speak. I'll give it 3 stars just cause i like the chorus.

This is just the type of club song I love: catchy, energetic, even a lil techno. I'm already seeing myself dancing to this! Of course it's not an high-quality song, but it's a club banger to me
