As one of the biggest beatsmiths in the DMV, Inner Loop RecordsJ-$crilla‘s got too many ardent supporters to worry about the critics. On the latest single off his recently released Culture of Honor mixtape, the Booth newcomer teams up with six of his most talented neighbors to send a simple message to all who would hate: “I don’t need No Love from you.” In addition to hard-hitting guest bars from local lyrical powerhouses Oddisee, XO, RAtheMC, Wordsmith, TEFLON and K-Beta, this track features the headliner’s only rapped contribution to the project. His boastful rhymes don’t disappoint, nor does his brassy, soul-sampled boardwork, which, as he reveals in a hilarious “Making Of” video, is borrowed from a cut off The Five Stairsteps & Cubie’s Our Family Portrait LP. There’s no reason No Love should get anything but love in the Booth. If you like what you’re hearing, you can find find 13 more original tracks and each record’s instrumental version on Culture of Honor, out now. In addition, stay tuned for release details on RAtheMC’s forthcoming mixtape project, the Mick Boogie-hosted, Booth-sponsored Trending Topics.

J-$crilla, this single, and his new project represent everything that the DMV is all about. They look out for one another, they want everyone to succeed, and they should good when working together.

Nice sample of each artists talents; RAtheMC and K-Beta killed this.

I'd say this would be a perfect summer time track, but in L.A. it's summer year round, so No Love will be in rotation for a while.

The production is the standout on this track, but everyone comes strong on it.

Am I the only one who's thinking about the Juice Crew right about now? Sounds like the new Juice Crew right here:

J-$crilla is Marley Marl/Mr. Magic (producer/DJ though making a guest rap here)
Wordsmith is Big Daddy Kane (obviously the standout of this group)
Oddisee is Biz Markie (positive-natured MC)
RAtheMC is Roxanne Shante (well duh)

Don't know enough about TEFLON or K-Beta to determine MC Shan, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Craig G, or Tragedy Khadafi status...but still-THE VIBE IS THERE.

(side note: Does that make Wale KRS-One and his UCB band Boogie Down Productions?)

I was feeling it but I don't know if this is a song that I could keep listening to. The production was nice, but wasn't really digging it that much. Solid but not great.
