J. Cole - The Plan
Artist: J. Cole
Producer: 9th Wonder
Album: NBA Elite 11 Soundtrack
Label: Roc Nation/Columbia
If there have been two things I have been waiting for this fall, its J. Cole’s forthcoming debut album and the release of good sports games for my Xbox 360. So with J. Cole’s recent release, The Plan, here in final form after a snippet surfaced earlier this week, serving as the title track to the NBA Elite 2011 Soundtrack, I get the best of both worlds. Produced by fellow North Carolinian 9th Wonder, Cole sets his mark on the EA Sports lineup like Killer Mike and Slim Thugg have done in the past. Beginning with the production, we’re speaking about the legendary 9th Wonder here, so I would have been shocked if the beat was disappointing. With a rock-influenced backdrop to work off, the future of Roc Nation Cole delivers yet more dopeness, throwing down punchlines like “Send flowers for opponents, tell em get well soon/ cause I aint in the mood / so if you read that word backwards it should spell doom.” Damn. NBA Elite 11, complete with a full soundtrack crafted entirely by 9th, will be available everywhere October 5.

Cole is consistent and to rate anything less than 5, well I can't do it (especially since this just happens to be my new theme song). Let's forget about the fact that 9th Wonder produced, he's nothing short of amazing. My fav song for the week by far.

9th Wonder provided the epic rock inspired, drum punding production, while J went the extra mile on all his verses. What does that mean?....

Not as strong as Premeditated Murder or The One, so only 4 Stars!

Too slow, few good lines. One of his better songs to me, believe it or not. He can't deliver a genuine preformance on a fast, hype-packed song- he's tried. Still not seeing what the hype with J.Cole is about.

I enjoyed 'The Come Up' mixtape a whole lot, but 'The Warm Up' and 'The Blow Up' were just ok. J. Cole has an immense amount of talent, but his consistency is a little off.
I like this track, so we'll see about his debut album. I hope he shows that drive and determination that made him popular in the first place. |

Not my favorite Cole track, but it's still pretty damn good. I don't get all this "inconsistent" talk. I have every Cole song, 4-5 mixtapes plus features, and there's only like 2 I skip. Especially in times where Gorilla Zoe puts out 9 tapes in a day, this man is consistent.

9th Wonder produced the whole soundtrack for this!? Just another reason EA > 2K. What else is there to say about Jermaine. Dude has it.

I'm liking this J. Cole/9th Wonder pairing. And this is a departure from the sound I'm used to hearing from 9th Wonder, but I dig it.
