Inverse - So True ft. Deacon (of CunninLynguists)
Artist: Inverse
Producer: Decap
Album: The So True EP
Label: Unsigned
In recent months, DJBooth has featured a several California up-and-comers eager to emphasize their West Coast roots, from Orange County’s Kali, whose Biggie-sampling Cali Kali impressed many of our regulars, to LeMarvin, who flipped Tupac Shakur‘s classic California Love into a thugged-out R&B record called Around My Way. The latest CA-repping cut to land in our inbox comes courtesy of Toby and Tundi of Inverse, who have taken it upon themselves to inform those not in the know that they’re So True. With assistance from underground veteran and Cunninlynguists founding member Deacon, Inverse ask listeners to gather ‘round for a nostalgic tale set in the Cali streets, describing their growth from youngsters with big dreams to mature artists ready to take their game to the next level. Originally due out on New Year’s Day, the duo’s So True EP has been pushed back to next Tuesday, the 13th.

Started off cool/chill and it stayed that way. And I kinda like that girl voice in the background. The only thing I wasn't really feeling was the hook. I think it's a 4/5 though. I like it.

I really dug the production. The hook was really bad...I don't know what that mess was. Maybe something someone super high would feel. Once the singing started getting smooth, it was nice. Inverse is not bad..though he has a weird voice. It's not really WEIRD, but he sounds like the white kid rapping on "Joyful, Joyful" on Sister Act 2. Not bad though. I'll definitely throw this in rotation.
P.S: I'm glad you're digging new styles of music WOW:/) |

Great production, chillin and smooth. I also like how they sing. But as usual I'm not crazy for the hook! I'm having some problems with hooks today, don't I?!

Not bad at all I think Nate Dogg would kill singing the hook. Lyrics were not bad guy reminds me of Smilez and Southstar a bit.
