Is it just me, or is there a refreshingly smooth, jazzy vibe in the Booth today? First The Kid Daytona‘s mellow single, On the Hill and now Amnesia, Forget It All, up-and-coming emcee The ILLZ’ contribution to SoulRebelNYC and HipHopDX‘s forthcoming compilation EP. As usual, the Jersey native (and exclusive freestyle series alum) looks outside the hip-hop world for production – this time, he borrows a lush instrumental from Forget Him, a track by Moscow jazz/downtempo group Rekevin. Those who aren’t immediately hypnotized by the beat (and frontwoman Ksenia Istenko‘s silky chorus vocals) will hear rhymes as insightful as any we’ve heard from ILLZ. Hilariously, the emcee takes the opportunity to address a comment made by a certain Booth regular/crew member on one of his previous features: “I read a dude somewhere comment that I’m the rap version of Staind / Dog, are you insane?” Don’t worry, I’m not naming names (not that you couldn’t, um, Google it). Anyway, fans can find new tunes from a variety of talented up-and-comers on the DJ Quiz-mixed We Got Next EP, scheduled to drop on the 27th.

This song is the bomb. This is one of the first times I'm listening to Underground/Non-Mainstream Artist and I'm really really liking this :

I like Illz, he always comes with it on a track. I think the jazzy production on this might have been a little but much. Sometimes subtley is key.

Whoah, best song on the booth I've heard so far today. Illz sounds perfect on this beat. Ksenia Istenko was AMAZING too, she really blew me away. I wonder if I listened to this alot more if it would seem classic to me.... Probably.

We'll get back to Illz in a minute, but who is Ksenia Istenko? To me she stole this track - goddamn, what a voice.
A lot of people are rappers, but Illz is an artist, and he comes with a supremely unique style once again. Huge props.

I'm always on DJBooth but I created this account and post solely becuz I'm such a fan of this dude's music. I mean I haven't been moved by an artist like this in a long while. And this track proves to me that The Pursuit was no fluke...I can't wait to get another full project from dude.

The ILLZ is a lyrical beast. This is such a great song. Everything seems to blend together perfectly from ILLZ's verses to the sample. Vocals were a big plus.
