Not to be outdone by his east coast compadre, Nas, veteran actor/rapper Ice Cube has dropped the official opening single from his forthcoming album, Raw Footage. On It Takes A Nation, Cube calls out Corporate America, undermines the hip-hop industry’s up-and-coming talent (no names are named; that isn’t his style) and threatens to punch out the President. Unbelievably, he does all this in just under 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Over a beat from NYC producer Emile, which sounds very similar to Jay-Z‘s Takeover, Cube’s vengeance is unleashed for the world to hear. The only question is: is anyone listening?
I am feeling Ice Cube for what he brings to the game and what he has done for the game in the past. That being said; I was never really a fan of Ice Cube as a rapper (just keepin it real). I think this track has a decent beat. The chorus is pretty hard, but the lyrics of the verses is kinda lacking to me. It's OK though...
Oh snap, cube still raps?? Definitely not one of ice cubes better works, good beat, but he always does well on that front. I think he's trying to spit *too* hard, I don't believe it anymore because it's hard to take him seriously after all the movies he's done. How can I believe these lyrics when he's doing movies like 'Are We There Yet?'... well unless he's all about paper chasin'...
these here is that real west coast gangsta @*#$! beat from emile is hott and heavy banging wit ice cube still bringing dat fire..it mite not be a whole nation but hes bringing dat west coast music back..
This is good...dude if movie studios are willing to pay you good money to do movies what you gonna do? comeon...haha it is funny though it is a completly hypocritical song.
Ok how do you guys say Ice Cube is soft because he did a movie(which other artist have done, to make extra money) and you say that Lil Wayne is the best and you say he's also hard. LMAO. Ice Cube the one who said F*ck the Police a true legend. This deserves a better raiting.
The beat is cool and I respect what he is saying. I give anyone props who still does them regardless of what the media is saying or playing. It shows you do music from the heart.
Ice Cube used to be the man (4real!) but I'm not diggin' his same ole NWA flow. Oh, and thanks Ice Cube for not thrown' up the west-siiide "W" for once. Love ya.
for all ya people that rated this song a 3 and below ya dont knoe notin bout music.....f**in dum shits listen to the lyrics and not if the person snap or lean wit it and rock wit it ya dont knoe notin bout this rap game....

I'm not really feelin the breakdown during the hook. Other than that the beat is bangin! Ice Cube! You know what to get from him! Always soild! This is not his best work, I don't know if it worked today but it's a decent track! Westside!!!!!
Real talk, Ice Cube brought it with this one, too. He's got a tight flow, and it's real @*#$!. Not just some song for the fans to love him. This, and Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It were both tight and delivered a message that's raw. Simple as that.
