I.Y.A.Z.‘s smash-hit debut single found the artist so enamored with a certain female that thoughts of her were running through his head like a catchy melody through an “iPod stuck on replay.” Alas, it seems that that the promising relationship wasn’t meant to be; on single number two, the Virgin Islands-bred singer is flying Solo once again, wishing that he could hit the “rewind” button and go back to the way things were. Despite the depressing subject matter, this track is only marginally less upbeat than its predecessor; superimposing uptempo percussion over a sample from Janet Jackson‘s 1993 ballad, Again, Jonathan “J.R.” Rotem crafts an instrumental that will sound equally at home at the club and on Top 40 stations. While the “I don’t wanna walk this Earth…” hook is a little melodramatic (perhaps he’s trying to duplicate his label boss’ success with “suicidal” hit “Beautiful Girls), that shouldn’t stop the record from becoming float number two in this Caribbean buzzmaker’s hit parade. Keep it locked to the Booth for all the latest on I.Y.A.Z.’ yet-untitled debut set, due out sometime this spring.

I've had this on my iPod for about three weeks and it is still in my rotation. The hook was catchy and he has great chemistry with JR. I like what IYAZ is doing right now.

I prefer my island-pop a little more upbeat, but who likes their pop slightly depressing and spends lots of money? Teenage girls! This doesn't have the same replay (no pun intended) value as "Replay," though it should be enough to get IYAZ so much chart success.

This isn't bad, but I prefer "Replay". This is a different route than that one though, and for that reason I respect this. I hate artists who release near identical singles.

Nice follow up single, I put him the category of your Jay Seans and Jason DeRulo's. After this track, I'd place him a little below Jay Sean but ahead of Jason DeRulo.

Ok people, I need you help. This uses an old pop song as its base, sample. Maybe early '90s. I know it, but I can't place it and it's driving me f**king crazy. Can anyone figure it out.
Oh, and enjoyable pop - it's no replay, that's for sure.

I'm tired of these producers ripping CLASSIC samples from such huge hits from the 80's, and in this case the 90's. I hope the remake generation of the 2000's doesn't spill over into the teen's of this decade.

Far from a fan and Solo is a weak follow up to Replay. I can see all the teenagers requesting this one for their melodramtic lives. And I can see all the mothers of the pre-teens blasting this at the request of their teeniebopping children.

This track seems to be quite catchy but there is nothing about it which really to be honest make it "top class".
The chorus and hook are catchy followed by good verses. Good production by JR with the beat as if you listen closely he sampled Janet Jackson's song Again. So props to JR. Keep it up Iyaz. Nice Track. |
