H*wood - Could It Be You (Punk Rock Chick)
Artist: H*wood
Producer: Mark Jackson and Irok of MJP
Album: Promo Single
Label: DarkChild Records
The only thing between me and a great summer is the week ahead, so obviously my mind’s focused on relaxing under the warm summer sun and not the here and now. H*wood is not helping me fight off procrastination as he opens up his first Booth feature with a seasonal banger that makes me want to do nothing but imbibe and breakdance (only one of those I can do well). On Could It Be You (Punk Rock Chick), the Colorado emcee (who was discovered online by producer Darkchild) puts some enjoyable bars down over a synth-heavy and bass-hitting production from Mark Jackson and Irok (of MJP). Only time will tell if this club ready track will become a full-fledged summer anthem, but in the early stages of the game it’s a front runner in my opinion. If you liked this early heat from Wood, be sure to check out his upcoming, currently-untitled new project.

Our readers are either going to love this or hate this record. I have a feeling there will be no in-between... expect from me ha!
This isn't my cup of tea, but I'll be damned if people don't find it catchy. This could end up on the radio... or it couldn't. I wouldn't be surprised either way. Look out, summer... you might have a club anthem on your hands. |

I honestly have no idea what to think about this track. It's almost to ..... I can't even put my thumb on it. There's just something about it that makes me want to hurt someone. Even if the beat is catchy, it's just too much pop for me.

This has club hit infused all in it...the beat will probably make this very popular. I actually like the production with the techno/pop vibe to it though.
The subject matter however isn't very creative..."I like them girls"....well I would hope so considering H*Wood is a man. But anyhow this isn't a track for me...however if I were to hear it a club I probably wouldnt mind dancing to this. |

Swagger-jacking name-dropping whatever is cool right now or once was... but still couldn't hold me down for a complete first listen! I'll pass.

I listened to it for 30 seconds before turning it off and its already stuck in my head!! Agh when will artists just lay off the Auto-Tune! though if I was in the club I wouldn't have any complaints if the DJ dropped this joint....2 stars

Z called it. This one's got love it or hate it written all over it. It's obviously not the next Empire State of Mind, but I was actually kind of enjoying it in the same way that I enjoy watching the Real World Challenge. If you shut your brain off and just enjoy the ride it's actually pretty good times.

While I usually don't listen to this type of stuff on my headphones, this stuff will most definitely blow up in the clubs. The production on this was pretty cool and combined with the concept, people are gonna be all over this on the dance floor.
I like how the auto tone is incorporated throughout bits and pieces of the songs. This was a good track. |

this is pretty wack. and from my knowledge he wasn't discovered online by Darkchild. he was discovered by Jackie Boyz' manager who brought him to Darkchild. 1 1/2

This is definitely ready for the clubs. Not liking the auto-tune. If he kept it off, it might've had better potential.

This is a hit or miss song. Not all people will like this and I hate to say it, but I'm not one of them. It's catchy and that always grabs people, but not committed fans of rap. Going to have to do a little more to pull me in to have me convinced this is worth rotation.

Damn I met this guy about a year ago when I was DJing a gig in LA, good to see he made it to the booth! He sent me a few of his tracks then, and I definitely noticed he had a unique style. Definitely never heard rap/pop/house combined like this...but the way the industry is headed this might be a hit....I'm giving it 4 stars for potential

This is a song that'd be a big hit on the radio. It's a song that people will most likely either love or hate, but that's not the case for me. I hate that I actually like the catchiness of this song. Oh well.

Is this guy tryin to steal Ke$ha's spot or what?! -_- Pathetic!
This is disgusting! Zero talent (wtf is he talking about or suppose to be good at?), 100000 gimmicks (name drops, autotune, hot garbage recycled production...)! This is completely mercenary (it's been long since I used this word to describe a rapper/song, I thought they started vanishing, but no...)! |
