The 50th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Hurricane Chris, the Louisiana rapper whose latest single, Halle Berry (She’s Fine) has clubgoers (and YouTube members) everywhere getting ratchet once again. Recorded in one take at NYC’s Chung King Studios, this brand new, previously-unreleased DJBooth Cypher Session finds Chris joining forces with dancehall icon Beenie Man to flow over the Play N Skillz instrumental that backs his current club smash. Hurricane Chris is currently preparing for the July release of his sophomore studio album, Unleashed.

DJBooth was in the house to watch Chris and Beenie spit this LIVE in one take... even re-looping the beat which ended prematurely.

Production was pretty good, but I've never really been a fan of Hurricane Chris. Beenie Man was pretty good and Chris wasn't bad on here but I just don't think he's that great. Rotation.

I really like how off-the-cuff this is, and it's clear they were having fun recording it, which counts for a lot in my book.
Did he really spit "My chick chocolate like a chocolate hearse?" Because that's crazy, in a good way. |

Like ive said before Chris sounds comfortable over a beat like this & does this track justice with some good lines ... Beenie sounded good altho I cud barely understand what he was sayin ... but all in all dis is a BANGER!!! |

Wow Z, you're excited about this... but yeah, the "live, one take, just messing around" feel of this makes it so... .. (ups, there goes the re-looping) .. crazy! ;)
Hurricane's rapping voice sounds so much better! I don't like it on his songs, but here he goes more of a Weezy than a Boosie, accordingly bringin some dope lines... and this is a freestyle! I'm gon take him more seriously now, but I really hope he brings this type of flow/voice, or I'll be lost again. |

Str8 bangin' fool. Impressive, at first but then it just get's really boring. Just a slight change of pace now & then or a slight change to the beat in the middle could change the overall feel to it. Nevertheless Hurricane Chris has a lot of potential.

Chris is tha shit. Just like my ni@@a boosie. Those too cats music I can listen to without problem. Beenie Man and Chris on one track is just stupid. (in a @ood way)
