Hum.V - Look in Your Eyes ft. Lynda Saayah
Artist: Hum.V
Producer: C-Ray
Album: Hum V: One Verse at a Time
Label: Unsigned
Ever since Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith teamed up on Walk This Way, the genres of hip-hop and rock were destined for collaborative beauty (see Busta Rhymes & Linkin Park’s We Made It, or Kevin Rudolf & Lil’ Wayne‘s Let It Rock for further proof). On a smaller scale, Indianapolis rapper Hum.V has admitted to being strongly influenced by rock icons such as John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana, all of whom have influenced his indie release, One Verse at a Time. On his current single, Look In Your Eyes, Hum shows how much of a gentleman he can be, but, more importantly, why a change in pop music is on the horizon. While most rappers love the one-night stand, Hum.V prefers a serious (preferably lifelong) relationship. Featuring Lynda Saayah on the hook and fellow indie emcee C-Ray on the piano-looped beat, Look In Your Eyes has assisted Hum in securing a meeting with Capitol Records later this week.

This ish is off the chains! The production is mad ill and I gotta say, I love hip hop music like this....where genres are crossed over. I think music is definitely headed in that direction as well and expect to hear more and more hip hop genre crossovers. Hum V's lyrics are real ill...I do have to say I think he needs more energy in his delivery though. For some reason, I can here Eminem or even the "Deliverance" Bubba Sparxx spitting these same lyrics and smashing the track on some classic status ish! Even Mike Shinoda's style would have served this track up really nicely. But I think Hum V.'s vocal presence will grow on me, because this is definite superb ballad track. Lynda Saayah is a beautiful angel with the vocals. Her vocal runs sound like Mariah Carey. I really dig this unique joint. We need more hip hop like this. Only the one's truly in tune with music and hip hop as an art will dig this...I guarantee it.

The production is hot on this one but Hum V is preventing me from rating this a classic. His lyrics need some polishing and his voice doesnt seem right for this type of song. Otherwise great song..Lynda Saayah 5/5. Overall Banger!! lots of hot songs tonight

Lynda sounds great on this. More from her please. (another Mariah type singer) Hum.V sounds solid. Piano sounds really nice. This is a good song. No doubt about it. This is real shit! Being that was the topic earlier in the week.

Very impressive. Glad to hear some new representation out of the heart of the Midwest. The overall effort - vocals, production, guest hook by female singer - all collided very nicely. Hum will get a deal... let's just hope it isn't with a label who is clueless on how to market alternative acts.

Vampire Weekend, I know about Classified! I've been bumping him for about two years now. "All About U" featuring Chad Hatcher has been in heavy rotation! He just dropped his last album though right? Anyways, I think this guy is good in his own right too though.

i LOVE songs like this. songs with a message that isn't about the cliche subjects that T-wayne always talk about. This is definitely going on my playlist, Hum.V & Novel is one of the best artists in my opinion.

Wow this song is wonderful! The music is soulful and touching and Lynda has a breathtaking voice...I don't know any of these two but they did an extremely great track and to me it's a banger! I'd like it to be a classic but I'm not feeling his flow so much, lyrics are good but he's actually weak...doesn't matter, the overall result is perfect as well

On a production note if you take Hum.V's verse up 1-2 db it would totally change his presence and make this even that much better. Totally agree with Mike Shinoda or Em, but Bubba would've been too gruff and hoarse for something of this sort. I could definitely bump this, but here's to a re-recording or something along those lines.

Wasn't expecting this, but I gotta say I like what I'm hearing. Lynda Saayah was off the chains and Hum.V was doin his thing. He's not the best I've ever heard, but he does enough to put this one in the rotation.

I appreciate the emotion he put in this song, but let's be real people, this is boring and will never make any waves in the mainstream. I'm from Indianapolis and I've never heard of this dude (and its not like Naptown is that big).

the simple fact of the matter is this song is DOPE. no if, ands, or buts, about it. I love the lyrics in this song. An emcee actually saying something, and its gettin spins in a major market....HUM.V killed it.

Hum. V brings rap back to its roots and through his lyrics and style he's able to relate to the everyday man. It's not all about $, bitches, guns, bangin' and bling. It's about reality.

This song is just ONE of 7 or 8 off of his album (One Verse @ a Time)that are on fire. The lyrics and production are on point...so refreshing to hear hip-hop not talk about money, bit*ches, and guns. NO DOUBT this kid will get a deal. Do you HUM.V

Hey, mmoore1127, I guess you don't listen to Radio Now 100.9fm (the biggest POP / Hip Hop station in the city). Hum.V has been featured on the Furious Four at 9pm for the past three weeks. You should probably come out of your hole sometime, but you're probably busy baning your cousins in Martinsville.

This is the next great hip-hop artist. Why this guy is not signed is beyond me. His beats and lyrics go back to what brought hip-hop on the scene. A future classic!

My reply to Tom Santilli: No, I don't listen to 100.9 because it is the biggest POP/"Gay Ass Music for 15 Year Olds" station in Indy (like Jonas Brothers and shit). But I will say, I was flipping through the radio stations on my way to work the other day and heard that he was in studio at 100.9 on Tuesday morning (I think?). I thought about my post on here, and thought, damn I'm about to eat my own words. 2 seconds later I flipped the radio station back to 96.3 to listen to the Russ Parr Morning Show.
