As most of you probably remember from last year, rapper Hot Dollar became the first artist signed to Jermaine Dupri‘s new Island Urban Music label and his debut album, My Dreams…A Day In The Life, was set to drop on August 14. Eventually, several other artists (Rocko, DJ Felli Fel, 9th Ward) would sign contracts with the label, thus leaving Dollar’s project on hold. Understanding his situation, Dollar has taken the initiative to promote himself with two new buzz tracks: the sexually-explicit Get Naked, and the more radio-friendly Upside Down. In the latter, the Hattiesburg-born, SoCal resident, adds a dash of singing from Que and everyone’s favorite accompaniment: the voice box effect. For Dollar’s sake, we hope the fad doesn’t fizzle before his album drops.
Rico? Fantasia's brother ... not bad. How much does a VOICE BOX go for? I need to purchase one to see if I sound good. I might have to quit my day job if it works. So far Hot Dollar has been worth every hot dollar. The two tracks I've heard from him have been strong.
I really like this track. The beat is unique but still smooth and this guy can sing! The flow of the song is done very very well. Nice Swagger on this one!!!
Shout out to my man, DJ Ill Will, for the track and info. This is what I call a straight throwback cut to '95! Upside Down would have actually benefited from less voice box though. This is single material.
I think he has changed his style since he first came out and its really working. I would have liked this more if he didnt use the voice box. The box isnt as bad with his as it is with other people though. I really think it should be left to t-pain.

Wasn't sure about Hot Dollar but this is pretty hot. He sings well, the beat is killer, real laid back and relaxed and the hook is pretty crazy. Overall a good song to chill to.
i like the effects very diffrent i love beats that sound nothing like main stream but can be main stream does that make sense lol dude can sing rico ok too will be in rotation soon
this is good. if this is his new image then i can fuck wit it. jesavail02, the vocoder is part of the computer software you're using in the studio. it's not something you would usually buy seperate unless you have a tracheotomy(hole in throat). those are 60-200 dollars. now how bad do you want to sound like t-pain?
I like the song, but Im not too impressed with the artist, flow is mediocre...and the vocoder? The beat is fire though, once again another song making it b/c of the production.....and Fatboy?!? Burmy u sure about that one? if so I really like his change of style.

I would play this on B side and use a vocal supperesor, then beat match it to a faster tempo song.
