Once again we find Hot Dollar where we last saw him… trying to solidify a release date for his debut album, My Dreams…A Day in the Life in the face of Def Jam‘s constantly fluctuating calendar. Despite releasing several buzz singles over the last year, a lack of chart presence hasn’t slowed down the dual Hattiesburg, Mississippi/Compton native. On Night Life (We Up In the Club), Dollar puts together a winning combination of an autotuned chorus and a club-ready beat by DJ Khalil, and the track is complete with a reference to Ace of Spades, a favorite liquor of Def Jam‘s former president. To make a long story short, if Night Life is chosen as the next official single, it should have no problem fitting into the current radio landscape (so long as it receives proper promotion). Keep it locked to DJBooth.net for further information. (Shouts to DJ Ill Will!)
This ones a little too confusing to me. The production is on point and the chorus is really catchy, but the verses are really off. It needs to be mixed up a little better, and right now I'm not feelin this upon first listen.
the production is pretty good & im lovin the chorus, but maybe they shoulda found somebody else 2 present it. =/
ill give it a 3, but im bein extremely generous...
I quote everything cb126405 wrote...the production is super in my opinion, the chorus is catchy but the verses are average! They are confused and I honestly can't understand their melody...pity because it could have been a banger, the type of production reminds me of Hero by Nas...that was a banger, this is in rotation but Hot Dollar is rather annoying
Hot Dollar might not have the great lyrical skill in the rap world, but he benefits here from a sick DJ Khalil production. This has got to get some plays; it sounds like plenty of other records getting spins.... right?
This song is iigh, but i HATE when DJ's say there name during the song, it absolutely pisses me off, tryin to get fame or what? but its kinda boring.. and he has NO energy..
hot dolla has been in my opinion been a solid artist ....as for the past year ....song is catchy and has energy and lyrics are solid.... like the stuff im hearin .... club banga fo sho
