Although So So Def/Island Urban Music continues to expand its roster, which includes new additions such as 9th Ward, Git Fresh and Young Envy, the label’s very first signee, Hot Dollar, has yet to be given a release date for his debut, My Dreams…A Day in the Life. Undaunted by label politics, the West Coast representative has taken refuge in the one place he loves the most, the streets. On I Luv Tha Streetz, Dollar walks the listener through the many aspects of street life, from females and inmate shout-outs to heavy tattoos. Complementing the track nicely is producer Scoop Deville, whose laid-back beat is perfect for a relaxing cruise down the streets of any neighborhood. My Dreams…A Day In the Life is currently set to drop late this summer.
This is different from the club type songs that I've heard from Hot Dollar. I dig this alternative style from Hot D. What's up with the crow sound in all of his songs--it must be his signature.
scoop deville made a sweet laid back beat here duno bout hot dollar tho he seems to love the streets abit 2much but is sumthing diffrent by him solid..
Is Scoop Deville Snoop Dogg? I think someone posted that back on Jagged Edge's "Smokin While We Drive." Whoever he is he's got some nice beats. Anyway, Dollar's flow kinda put me to sleep (the chrous especially). This track is cool, but won't recieve too many spins from me.
im witchu donjon..."Upside Down" was a solid track...but on this one...tha beat is kinda.....boring...not hype...not really slow...and not a "gutta" type beat...and tha hook is kinda......oh...ok....lol...its Okay.......~
Scoop Deville has produced joints for Snoop, MMoore. He was behind Snoop's Life of Da Party joint. Snoop's producer alias is Niggarrachi. Anyways... this song has a SICK sample... YES BEACH BOYS.
I believe this is the first time The Beach Boys have been sampled, but this beat is wicked. A sample that reflects on "Good Vibrations" takes a stroll down the gutter streets of gangsterville. Hot Dollar puts it down here - maybe not as lyrically as say The Game or Crooked I, but he has his way of explaining his affinity and loyalty to the streets.
Subnote: Scoop DeVille is the son of Chicano rapper Kid Frost. Not only is he a talented beat cooker, he's a fairly tight rapper. PM me for the song if you want to hear his lyrics.
