The 163rd entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Hollywood FLOSS, the Houston native who earned reader approval for Mr. Big Stuff back in late March. On his brand new, exclusive Sparks When My Pen Starts freestyle, the Kwiet Riot Music Group rapper flows over an Orel Yoel/David Appleton-produced instrumental originally featured on Asher Roth‘s Lark on My Go Kart. Hollywood FLOSS is currently preparing for the May 3 release of his Xperiment Vol. 2 mixtape, which will be followed by debut studio album, House of Dreams. In addition, fans will be able to catch him on tour over the course of the summer.

Readers can download a copy of In the Booth (Volume 4), featuring exclusive freestyles 91 through 120, here! Volumes one, two and three are available for download here, here and here. Watch for Volume 5 to hit our front page in late May.

Man, Floss slow down son you killin 'em. Dude might be from Texas, but this flow is as aggressive as an east coast street rapper (which goes to show regional "sounds" have nothing at all to do with ability or skill).

He impressed me enough to warrant an invite for this series and the same goes for this effort.

Man, I've loved this beat ever since Asher used it. What?!?! This guys from Texas. He doesn't necessarily sound like a southern rapper, but he completely kills it.

Really loved that Beatles line. This was definately one of the best freestyles I've heard in a LONG TIME.

He seems like he's been around some east coast dudes with this joint. Rapid fire at the listener. One of the better freestyles lately and man he has good game. Good song to jump on.

I completely agree with DJ Z about the regional sounds, I mean many of you probably didn't know that DJ Premier is from Texas, so it's whether you have the skills or not. As for freestyle what more can I say that hasn't been said dude straight murders it.

Echo the "this is not your usual Texas rapper" flow, in fact, it's far closer to the original Roth style than any stereotypical Lone State style. I've got a feeling Hollywood just got on a whole folks' radars with this one.

Tight flow, good rapping voice and the beat grants him the perfect medium to knock out a number of noteworthy lines. With a standout first feature in "Mr Big Stuff", continues to impress with his second feature. Very well done!

When I read that this FLOSS was from Houston I was shocked...I'm from Dallas and have never heard of him.

And his sound is nothing close to any Texas rappers sound which in this case its a really really good thing.

Over this nice Asher track Floss demonstrated that Southern rappers can actually rap about things other then sippin drank.

He has some nice lyrics and for this just being a freestyle I was left wanting to hear more of him!

"Spark When My Pen Starts," not gonna lie that is a sick title for a song. Never been a fan of Asher Roth's as I just view him as a non-serious college wanna be rapper. Not trying to sound mean, but his I love college track annoyed the hell out of me.

This track is nice. Hollywood can flow and ride a beat like so many other great rappers out there. I would like to hear him on a track of his own with new production as he carried this track off very well. He can rap so only time will tell what lies ahead for him. 3.5

This is nice. I felt like on the original that the beat was nice, but Asher was wack. This is a nice upgrade.

This guys really from Texas? Well I guess that doesn't really matter. This was a sick freestyle, like most of the ones on djbooth.

I loved it.Great like all the music I have heard so far from FLOSS. The lines were catchy. My favorite was "I mastered the flow, I am coming for my doctorate."

Floss is a Beast! I did a show with him in Downtown Houston & he killed it. Ya'll should see him live. Man, I sure hate when people talk down on TX. Not everyone hear Raps about bling bling or sippin'. Maybe I'll submit something & rep for TX too.
