Noted hip-hop producer Hit-Boy is continuing his foray into rap with the release of Old School Caddy, a single that marks the musician’s second DJBooth feature as an emcee. Hit-Boy continues to flaunt his surprising lyrical prowess on the record, which also features Mr. Solo Dolo himself, Kid Cudi. The Cali-born wordsmith and beatmaker pulls double duty on the slightly nostalgic Old School Caddy, providing the song with its audibly pleasing, scratch-heavy production. While Cudi and Hit-Boy make for quite the unexpected lyrical pairing, both emcee’s are nothing short of solid on the record. Also, I think a hearty “welcome back” is in order for Cudi, who seemed to have left the hardcore rapping on the back-burner up until today’s release. As with his previous release Jay-Z Interview, Old School Caddy is not yet attached to any project from Hit-Boy.

I have to hand it to Hit-Boy... while he is not the most engaging or charismatic emcee, he can surely spit and his ability to create a memorable record is pretty advanced. This screams old school Outkast and for that I am a BIG fan.

CuDi and the beat is what made this track enjoyable. I like that Hit-Boy is trying but it just doesn't seem that rapping is his thing. Production is great, though. Imagine how CUDi would have sounded if it was solely his track.

Not loving the hook but overall I've liked what I've heard from Hit Boy. His delivery doesn't really grab you but he's not wack either.

I only really liked Cudi's verse & the beat was kinda dope... So that just leaves Hit-Boy's rapping, well he's not bad.
