No, the latest feature from HaLo doesn’t find the North Carolina rhymesayer donning pointy ears and a cape in anticipation of the summer release of Christopher Nolan’s latest Batman opus. Despite the lack of superheroic action, new video single Dark Knight does tell a story of struggle and redemption to mirror that of millionaire playboy-turned-vigilante Bruce Wayne. The protagonist? None other than black music itself. Here, fellow First in Flight State repper Khrysis’ woozy, soul-sampled production sets the mood for the rhymesayer’s abstract, allegorical bars. In one of his less-cryptic moments, he hails the man behind the boards as the savior of the game: “Why you hate Khrysis, despisin’ the loops / He does it on the regular, even secular atheists praise the god.” Has this vivid, headphone-ready selection piqued your interest? The production work by Khrysis on the beat is pretty crazy. HaLo ripped this too. Great lyrical skills and the whole track was entertaining throughout. Banger $hit!
