Since 2000, the city of St. Louis has undoubtedly featured more hip-hop hit makers than any other city in the Midwest. While some of them (Nelly, Chingy) have been able to stay on top for most of the decade, others (Murphy Lee, J-Kwon, Jibbs, Huey) have had a rough time. Hoping to join the former class is longtime independent STL artist, Hakeem the Dream, who just recently started indie label PiMo (area code 314=pi, get it?) along with St. Louis Rams WR, Brandon Williams. On his buzz worthy single, Thick With It, pimpin’ lyrics from Hakeem and a club-ready beat from Ronnie Notch help rank the striving artist at the top of his class. But will his ranking be short-term or long-term? Find out when his debut hits streets later this year.
First of all, Hakeem Olajuwon is the real "Hakeem the Dream." Hook is too repetitive, it sounds like a record skipping (not feeling it). Second, Hakeem Olajuwon represented the South better than this pseudo-Hakeem. This song needs some work. Beat is ok until that funny noise comes in. If this Hakeem wants to prevent a flop like other St. Louis counterparts, he needs to come with a powerful tune, and this track is not it.
Damn jesavail02: The first thing I thought when I saw this guy's name was, Hakeem Olajuwon is the real "Hakeem the Dream." You beat me to it. This song is annoying, please take the "Do it with no hands," and please try to make a hook. "And she know she think wit it" isn't doing it.
Sounds like a one-hit-wonder track like J-kwon or Jibbs...This is actually worse than those two guys. Hakeem can give it up if this is what its gonna all sound like.
You know what dis is, a more gangster version of MIMs. Listen closely the flow is similar. Beat is pretty crazy, thick wit it? wut da hell, but i'd bump this song... rarely
the only thing about one hit wonders is that their "one-hit wonder" gets mad radio/club play...dont think that will happen with this..maybe a one time i was bored and "didnt-kno-what-to-play-next-to-accommodate-the-needed-
transitional-beat" type of play...but honestly i hope that i never have to hear this again..
I like it , Its hott down herre in da Lou, I mess with Keem and Ronnie notch .. They cool wit my homie Yung Will from the lou and keem is killing the radio rigth now, so stop hatin'. This is good club music .
