Gym Class Heroes - The Fighter
Producer: Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella
Album: The Papercut Chronicles II
Label: Fueled By Ramen/WMG
Booth readers, I know I’m not the only one who’s laid awake at night wondering who would come out on top in a knock-down, drag-out brawl between Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy and OneRepublic vocalist Ryan Tedder. Oh? I am the only one who’s thought about that? Well, damn—then I guess nobody but me will be disappointed to hear that The Fighter, the newly-leaked standout cut off the Heroes’ fourth album, is not an ode to literal pugilism but rather a motivational anthem urging listeners to soldier onward through the figurative battles that stand between them and their dreams. Here, Eric Matt and Disashi come together with Tedder and Noel Zancanellar to craft a fittingly determined instrumental backdrop for McCoy’s tale of his transformation from a “textbook version of a kid going nowhere fast” to a bona fide contender for greatness. Tedder accentuates the record’s soaring vibe on the guest tip, exhorting listeners to “Give ‘em hell.” in his impassioned guest chorus. Like what you’re hearing? You can pick this cut up now via iTunes—or wait till next Tuesday (11/15), when The Papercut Chronicles II drops, to cop the full package.

GCH have created (what sounds like thus far...) an album full of radio-ready, hip-pop ear candy. Out is Adam Levine (who appears on their lead single) and inserted is the equally-easy-on-the-ears Ryan Tedder. Nice motivational anthem.

I see why a lot of people like the Gym Class Heroes, but I am just not a big fan of their music.

The first track I heard from this album was OK, but the this one and the last one was exactly what I wanted to hear. This is like real GCH music right here. I'm feelin the beat ,the chorus, and the message. Banger...

The star-power names alone are worthy enough to garner additional airplay; if Oh Land and Neon Hitch were replaced with more well-known Stateside singers, they'd catch more of radio's attention.
This is bound to catch fire on Billboard. |

Gym Class Heroes are releasing hot singles lately. Stereo Hearts is listened a lot here in Italy and I'm sure a song like this would be successful, too. Great work!

I like this and again I reckon the reason why I like is the feature. Mr McCoy just doesn't drag my ears to his feet just to hear his lyrical process. This proves my theorem:
Adam Levine - stero hearts Bruno Mars - billionaire The-Dream - cooke jar. I guess I think there needs to be another vocalist with Travis, soz man. |
