Having already gained a strong following in the underground, indie hip-hop/rock group Gym Class Heroes received some long-awaited national popularity thanks to their gold-certified third studio album, As Cruel As School Children (and its accompanying single Cupid’s Chokehold). Enjoying their newfound shine, the Geneva, New York natives are ready to launch the promotions for their upcoming fourth album, The Quilt, with a new single that will surely tiptoe towards summer anthem status. Despite a desire to be faithful to their women, group members Travis (MC), Diashi (guitar), Eric (percussion), and Matt (bass) find it difficult to keep their hands out of the Cookie Jar. Assisted by The-Dream‘s falsetto hook and an accompanying synth-guitar beat, this adulterous analogy should keep fans’ stomachs full until The Quilt is released on September 9.
Weak sauce on the chorus. GCH and Dream are a random collabo, almost as random as Akon and MJ, haha! This songs alright, girls will prob love it, which means its a hit
I really like Gym Class Heroes...but I must say this isn't really their style...The Dream just doesn't do enough with this beat on the chorus but its still good. Not a Clothes Off! or Cupids Chokhold by ANY means though. Can't wait for the album though.
The hook is really wack trash. What happened to Travis and GCH being original. This sounds like everything else out. I can dig the verses. Travis started out rapping like Kanye on "Workout Plan". This production sounds nice, but it's sounds like a carbon copy of something else I've heard recently. I can only throw this into rotation. Oh, and BTW, this is the worst song I've heard the Dream contribute to.
Yeah, I heard this a few days ago and gave it a few spins. It's pretty catchy and somewhat unique, I can see it getting some radio play. Not the best song, but it's definately worth a few listens. I give it 3.5 stars, wouldn't really call it a banger, but it's nice. I actually like the hook...
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMNNNNNN. This sounds good, fa real. And stop hatin on the hook. Well done by GCH and The-Dream sounds good as usual. Verses push this from in rotation to a certified banger... That is all
That hook is terrible. But other than that this is a pretty good track. I really liked VIva La White Girl. That @*#$! was of the chain. Aside from that I couldnt name a single track they've done. This is creative track that alot of people will relate to. The production is crisp. This bangs!
I agree, BDF44, that production work is what sets this whole thing off. The-Dream (for all you haters out there) is one talented cat. Don Vito told me a few weeks ago (check the interview) that Dream pens 15 songs a day sometimes. This was just another one... solid.
The hook for this song is horrible, and thats coming from a huge fan of the dream. Ive never liked gym class heroes too much and songs like this dont help.
I like the feel of the beat. The Dream kills the hook. I will definitely be bumping this. I never really listened to Gym Class Heroes but this sounds good.
If the hook would've been stronger, this song would have been a classic for me. I like Gym's style and like how they can subtlety infiltrate the rock with the rap.
The hook from the-dream isn't as hot as usual, but it's definitely interesting; As is the entire track. It's a unique beat though, not what I would expect from GCH. Kinda offbeat for them, but hey... gotta give love to the-dream.
I LOVE Gym Class Heroes, I URGE anyone who didn’t listen to their previous work to do so! As for this song, the only problem was the uninspired hook! :s Dream is in fact talented, but he doesn’t show it here at all. Sean Kingston, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Chris Brown AND I (!!!, yes, ME, lol) could all come up with something more exciting! :p GCH were great though, Travis is better than any average MC in the game, he dominated the metaphor like a cookie monster and his laid back flow doesn’t sound lazy! The basic sound in the background is original and catchy, the guitar is great! Nice work overall!
The song was alright and good for the girls but I was confused because it was basically an R&B track for Gym Class even though they tend to be on the Rock/Rap tip mostly. The hook was mumbly. I might be more open to it with more listens but it was not what I was expecting.
lets get this straight. the dream is talented as hell. the dude does his own thing. and as far as writing hes prolly more talented than pain. pretty much what i expected from travis (catchy and playing to the crowd). will defiently be top 10 on billboards. 3.6
The dream, sick. GCH, WEAK!! I hate these busta's ever since they started doing all this pop @*#$!.. I heard them years ago, and thought they had potential. But the all mighty dollar rules, and they changed it up to sell, not make good music. Just my opinion.
Good Track need some getting used too but i dont think it will take me long to like its a smooth track and gym class hereos are doing there thing latley i am expecting more form them as well
Woooow! The music and the beat are just super!! I love Gym Class Heroes, FredRico once again I agree with you! This has even a "rockish" part, it's trendy in late hip hop songs I see...banger!
mayne i think im goin crazy cuz Da Dream is soundin gud to me. im a G.C.H fan so off da bat i was hype n they delivered. Dis songs hot. da chorus is sorta weak but i cant think of a betta chorus so i guess dat will do. Nice its a Banga!!!
Anyone else recognize Gym Class Hereos ripped T-Pain for the chorus? T-Pain in Buy U A Drank "I'm T-Pain, You Know Me, Konvict Music Nappy Boy Like Oh Wee, I Know The Club Close At 3, What's the chance of you rolling With Me?" Just throwing that out there. Also, Rick Ross would rip this track.
mad tuen man, BANGER!!
1st of gym class heroes song i actually lyk man, mayb it's just that the-dream is in it i dont no, but im feelin da flow of dis song.
the hook sags, but travis is a hot MC. he ripped a whole lot of songs, and this isnt too different. the beat is hot, i wish i could've wrote the chorus instead.
yooo, i love this joint. it's a nice chill song for me... i would play this on any sunny day and jam to it... i like it.
the dream is so creative...
love it.
Ok SOMEONE please help me out here!! The "cookie Jar" song- DOES ANYONE recognize the tune of this song?? It's from another song and I cant put my finger on it. Listen to the beginning tune of the song right before you hear any singing or words. This tune is a rip from another song and I jjust wanna know what from! Thanks!!
