When the Gym Class Heroes dropped their independently-released debut. .…For The Kids, in late 2001, the Geneva, New York natives never dreamed that they would one day be collaborating with artists or producers like Busta Rhymes and Cool & Dre. Yet on their new song, Peace Sign, off the forthcoming album, The Quilt, they are doing just that. Adding to the growing list of ‘hater’ inspired records, GCH front man Travis McCoy and Rhymes kindly request that when you throw up the Peace Sign, you immediately put your index finger down. For all of you non-finger mathematicians, they’d like to see you flip the bird. Currently on the Warped Tour through to the end of the summer, the group is set to drop The Quilt on September 9 off Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen.
Wu$$up DJBOOTH.net! Gym Class Heroes is one of my favorite bands right now (I know, you guys probably didn't think I listen to Bands, but you are definitely mistaken). Travis rocks on the beat and he isn't trying to be something he's not when he raps. The beat on here is decent; but I LOVE the beat change!...Busta did his thing on here, but nothing really special. Still can't wait for the new Busta Album, cuz I know its gonna be CRACK!
This is a lot better than that song with The Dream from last week. This is actually my favorite GCH song I've heard to date. It's got a good keyboard and drum beat, and its a good house party jam. Good thing Busta is featured the day after dropping that awful "Got Bass" song to redeem himself and help me forget about that one.
I love this production by Cool and Dre. This is awesome. Travis McCoy is one of the hottest and most unique lyricists in the game and gets overlooked every frequently. I also agree cb126405. This is way better than the Dream collaboration. Man, Busta served this track nicely. Why doesn't he serve his own tracks like this. I wish Travis would drop a solo album. What does the other GCH memebers do on this track if Cool & Dre did the production? Hmmm...I wonder. But this is definitely a solid and original track. It's refreshing to the ears. I hope to hear a remix with TYGA man.
This is cool and dre? Nice change, this is not my flava, but I can apreciate it. Reminds me of Homecoming by kanye 4 osme reason. Busta kills it. I Think this is pretty good, different style for me, but still very good.
I'm kinda with you on that one justokhall, these hater songs are getting kinda repetitive, who are these mysterious haters? I personally think in a game where everyone seems to be in love with themselves, jealously is rampant. Paranoia is as well with all the drugs involved. Hip hop needs to stop looking at life on a macro level and start seeing the bigger picture. There are real problems going on that need to be addressed. Real haters who not only want to exploit us but control us as well. Fact is if we are all under the impression that people are hatin on us, we won't care to communicate with one another. The plan is to make us fight amongst ourselves so we won't come together against "them". Corporations and corrupt government are the haters and terrorist, not your ill informed peers. Lets stop chasing our tails people.
YEAH I LIKE THE BEAT COOL AND DRE HAVE CRAFTED HERE,IM ALSO LIKING THE LYRICIST TRAVIS MCCOY HES GOT HIS OWN STYLE GOING AND I LIKED HIS 1ST SINGLE THAT CAME OUT BUSTA ADDS A NICE VERSE DOWN TO COMPLETE IT..
Honestly I like Gym Class Heroes' music, beats, but I'm not crazy for them...their flow is a bit annoying sometimes! I really loved their last track, Cookie Jar. This is good but I don't like how they flow, they sound hysterical to me! it's in rotation
OMG!!! This is one of those tracks that have absolutely NOT A FLAW! Travis’s verses are smart, his flow is amazingly confident and matches the tempo perfectly. Patty, please! GCH only have 1 rapper, quit the plural! As for the hysterical flow… come on! What do you think of Eminem then?! He often sounds “hysterical” like this or “worse”, but matter of fact is, that’s NOT A BAD thing, actually it sounds more expressive! Speaking of EMINEM, he’d make an excellent FEATURE in his “Lose Yourself” mode. Production is SUPERB!!! The sound effects are effective, the piano and bassline are addictive, the drumming is ever so dynamic! Matt McGinley (the drummer) will have a great time playin this live, as well as the bassist, and the guitarist will just go crazy improvising. That’s why I don’t agree with your suggestion MichaelHannah. The fact that Cool&Dre produced this song doesn’t take the other band members besides Travis out of the equation. Does anyone else hear Patrick Stump singing background vocals on the chorus?
Nice flow Travis! Totally legit lyrics, plus Busta adds a nice element for sure! Definitley a change for a Cool & Dre beat...mixes well and is very unique...like it a lot
Nobody can tell Busta is not legendary. Doing big on the solo since 1996. He killed that track. But GCH did their thing on this one. Definite banger, almost classic.(4.5)
Gym class heroes has always had good verses, Travis like always comes up with clever ways of getting messages across.
I'll put this on rotation def, is more than okay, still not GREAT, but is a pretty good track. This is one of those tracks you can listen to, however not Bump LOUD in your car.
so clever... i LOVE IT
when i heard it on an MTv commercial.. i was like.. OMG! how frikkin clever... put up tha peace sign, but tha index down lol. I love this song. they are so frikkin unique to... i love these guys! Busta adds a real nice touch to tha song too!
