In his review of We Are Young Money, our own Nathan S. observed that, for as long as folks have been pointing to Gudda Gudda as the label’s “Next Big Thing,” the New Orleans native has yet to truly justify the hype. Well, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and, fittingly, Gudda’s first solo feature, mixtape cut I Don’t Like the Look, sees him drawing inspiration from an iconic purveyor of sweets, Willy Wonka. Here, Jahlil Beats delivers a hypnotically sparse groove driven by syncopated, A Milli-style percussion as the headliner spits a relentless stream of oddball quotables: “I’m a great white, you’s a flounder / fish and a b*tch, I’ll tuna everything around ya.” Of course, it’s hard to out-free associate Young Money boss Lil Wayne, whose closing bars find him in top form, name-dropping Bill Gates and somehow managing to make “jalepeño” rhyme with “ballerina.” Does the master overshadow his student here? I’ll leave that for you to decide. Either way, Young Money devotees will want to keep it locked for the latest details on the headliner’s Back 2 Guddaville mixtape, which has yet to receive a solid release date.

Jahlil has been serving up the beats for philly artists for a while now, hes on the rise...Gudda is solid but doesn't overshadow Tunechi

Willy Wonka (the original) is one of the best movies of all-time. This song is not one of the best of all-time, but I enjoyed it. I thought the production work (especially the sample) would get annoying quick, but it didn't. Still not convinced 100% on Gudda, but he held his own. With Wayne gone, lets see how much of a chance he gets to shine solo.

Young Money is a push-over, yes, I did just say that. We all know it's true. Lil Wayne manages to keep some people interested with his Codeine-induced-out-of-this-world-verses. Gudda Gudda may be the future of YMCM, but it's nothing to look forward to know what YMCM is now. But again, that's just my opinon....

Lil Wayne building an empire here! I always thought was one of the weaker members of young money (ahead of Jae Millz & Mack Maine)...but this is pretty cool..the beat goes hard...but Weezy is the star here as usual! 3 stars

Good flow but rhymes were not that impressive. And as already mentioned by @Z, beat grabs the listener’s attention but soon will feel monotonous and repetitive/annoying. Weezy delivered a tight verse. Certainly ain't worthy of 1 star ratings.

that piercing noise in the beat was quite annoying. i enjoyed most of waynes rhymes and a few of guddas but not enough to really impress me and be excited for the future of young money.

Weezy was good, production was good, though I dont get the love for Gudda Gudda. From what ive heard, I think he deserves to be put in the same category as Wacka Flocka Flame, Shawty Lo & OJ Da Juiceman.

I am thoroughly convinced that most of you already have a bias to call anything with Gudda Gudda or Young Money wack just because you feel like you need to as a hip hop fan.
I've always thought Gudda Gudda was quite wack, but I've been listening to this record on repeat this weekend. It's quite dope. Gudda almost delivered even better than Wayne and I can't deny that he actually brought some good lines and skill here. Don't be the person to forever generalize an artist based on an initial introduction or a prior frame of reference. The production was certainly on point. Jahlil went in. You can say this is Gudda's version of "Ransom" like Drake had with Wayne. I'm pretty sure this will put him on more peoples' radar and will help him advance his career. I can't deny effort. Quotables. "I come with toy boy like a happy meal, and you's a motherf*ckin' duck, Daffy Deal." "I'm from the school of hard knocks where we scrap and kill, pick the knife or gun, or you can get the package deal." |

lil wayne coulda saved this but as this isnt his track ill focus on gudda. its nice to hear a longer verse from gudda now after such a pitiful display in "bed rock". guda needs to mature a bit more. hes got the rhymes but lacks the substance. it still isnt bad but needs alot more work.
brings to mind yo gottis women lie men lie. needs a bit more polishing still pretty decent for a new player in the game. |

Like the others, I had my doubts about this...However, I realized Gudda's potential-one of the better verses of his career (plenty quotables)-Weezy still smashed it though!
Does that mean there's potential for the other YME artists we're unconvinced about? (Lil' Twist, Lil' Chuckee, & The Mysterious T-Streets) We'll see... P.S. Sorry Jahlil Beats, but Da Backwudz' "I Don't Like The Look Of It" still has the best use of that sample I ever heard. |

I’m still not sure about Gudda’s potential; he was nice but nothing to special. Wayne on the other hand couldn’t have gone any harder.

Young Money has three stars: Drake (who is making a masterpiece of an album from tha tracks i've heard off it), Lil Wayne (who is gettin beatin like he stole sumthin by his young student who is quickly becoming tha teacher) and last but not least Miss Nicki Minaj (who has Lil Kim potential)/Superstars in tha makin: Tyga, Bow Wow, and Cory Gunz. With all dat bein said nobody else is relavent. I mentioned six names and there is 20 more in Young Money dat r tha tru def of SCRUBS and Gudda Gudda is one of em. Dis trac jus barely alive b/c WEEZY F. BABY drops sum fiyaahh wit tha quickness otherwise TRAC IZ TRASH!!!!!

This is dope, though that noise on the beat gets a bit repetitive. O ya, that is an axe in his hand, and guessing from the bricks in the background, he's probly trying to be like the fireman. Anyways, can we stop all the stupid biased reviews? Good or bad, they are just unnecessary.

I've been seein' Gudda Gudda on the Cash Money outskirts waitin to make a big entrance onto the scene. This is a good song but is definitely not the caliber of song you want to bust into the scene with to make people talk about you.

You see other DJ's reviews and dont wanna be the odd man out...if Drake spit the same flow Gudda did yall would have said "ahh he went hard he killed that record" i can predict 5 of yalls(not gon say no names)ratings before i even scroll down...damn shame.
