Last week Gucci Mane joined his jailed compatriots T.I., Lil Wayne and Lil’ Boosie when he was sentenced to 12 months for violating probation, a sentence that will put him behind bars at the height of his popularity. Regardless of Gucci’s legal troubles, he and his label are pressing on, releasing his third single Worst Enemy, a song that in retrospect is strangely prophetic: it looks like he is indeed his own worst enemy. Most importantly, Worst Enemy is not your average Gucci song. Sure the Drumma Boy beat contains your usual Southern assortment of booming bass and stuttering drum rolls, but unlike his other hook-driven tracks, Gucci take a more lyrical approach here, expounding on his place in the game with slow rhymes like “No mystery, my infamy got me in hip-hop history.” Ok, so it’s not exactly One Mic, but it’s frankly the best Gucci can do. Assuming it’s not pushed back until post-jail, Gucci’s new, suddenly aptly-titled album The State vs. Radric Davis is set to drop December 8.

Solid track from Gucci imo, the production from Drumma Boy isnt the best ive heard from him, though its still decent. Gucci has defiantly stepped his game up in these past couple of month, he is now tolerable in my book

Best lyrical performance from Gucci that I've heard. But the thing is, Goochie's lyrics are still terrible. Disgrace to the south. All he has going for him right now is hype, and that will die in jail. Hopefully this means the end of his short lived stardom. Don't like the artist but the track isn't quite garbage.

Gotta go with "that1kid13" on this one... Gucci tends to get negative reviews but when its all said and done he's one of the hottest rappers in the game rite now for a reason and I gotta give him his props for that... Btw he's goin in for a probation violation and its a shame he gotta go in when hes at the top of his game...

I am surprised to see a few 3's. Gucci is the prime example of a love me/hate me artist. It's usually 1's or 5's. I am going to have to lean toward the lower end here. I know this is a street single, but doesn't have any appeal whatsoever. Best of luck, Gucci.

I concur, this may be Gucci's best lyrical joint till date but his so called "flow" is a straight no, heck, he isn't even sounding like himself right here. Switched his flow… but I still don't understand what the fcuk he was saying. To his credit, well, at least his album cover goes good with the situation he’s in now. :-) |

I'm feeling this track by Gucci. The beat is pretty normal, but lyrically he sounds different than usual which is welcomed right now. Keep ya head up Gucci...We will still be waiting to hear the hotness when you get out!

first of all, you said that "all u haters are the ones listening to sh1t on the radio", Gucci is all over the radio, so if you're a fan of gucci (which you seem to be), you are just completely contradicting yourself "hop up out the bed, turn my swag on" isnt any worse than "Livin life high everyday click WASTED" i understand that this is deep, "one of the souths great lyricists" i have never heard anyone say that, and will never ever hear anyone say that, gucci aint ever gonna get better lyrics or punchlines, all of his punchlines will either be about b1tches or money, even in a deep song and last, his vocab is low, its limited, so when people say they cant understand him, they literally mean it, like hes not clear when rapping at all, this song would be so much better if he spoke more clearly "Pick a spot to beef with me, and that spot i will meet you at, but let me check my schedule, i'm free tuesday 3 weeks from now" - not anymore! |

Ok now lets get rid of this tension with Gucci lol. Gucci we all know is not the best lyricist. However, we have to see his positives.....anybody lol. OK the song is just OK anybody who came on this site, or is new to this site needs to listen to the talented underground artists that we do have on this site. CAUSE, Wale, Charles Hamilton, K. Sparks,Slaugterhouse...etc. Listen to them ,then come back to this song listen to it and you will realize what the resident DJ's are talking about, we are clearly not hip hop tourists. You are looking at a guy who likes Soulja Boy....what he isn't as bad as Gucci. I like Soulja Boy because I can at least understand his words...most of the time lol. Either way for the Gucci lovers listen to Lil Wayne "The Carter", not the 3rd Carter, the first 1, thats good south. Haters of Gucci give him a break, we know he is not the best, but at least give him a 2 for trying.
