Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, come on y’all, it’s Gucci Time! (And with that I can scratch another item off my bucket list: “Work a Cool Runnings quote into a DJBooth intro.) My personal life goals aside, after a low-quality version of the aforementioned new Gucci single leaked earlier this summer, Mr. Mane is back at it with the release of Gucci Time, his first album-quality work since his prison bid. Featuring Mr. Alicia Keys himself, Swizz Beatz, on the production, and on assorted ad-libs and a short verse, Gucci Time is everything you’d expect from a studio session with these two: a repetitive, high-energy beat from Swizz, basic but catchy rhymes from Gucci and, of course, plenty of “brrrrrrrrrrrr”s. Lord knows it’s nothing new, but it’s proven to be a winning formula on the charts for Gucci in the past, so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it I guess. Can a recently un-incarcerated Gucci continue the roll he was on pre-incarceration? We’ll find out for sure in the comments below, and when his upcoming album, The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted (get it?) drops September 28.

Does the purchase of a Gucci Time watch come complete with probation counter? Okay, kidding aside, this isn't bad. I am usually anti-Gucci because I find his rhyme style and musical abilities to be lacking, but Swizzy hooked him up here. DJs will certainly take a bite out of this record.

I Never Liked Any Of Guccis Solo Songs, He Usually Shines When He Features In Songs, With The One Exception Of My Own Worst Enemy. He Didnt Do That Bad, But Still He Is Nowhere Near being Good. 2 Stars For Effort.

I was excited to talk some Gucci hate, but he picked it up on his verses. This is alright. I liked the production too. The only bad part was the hook. I felt like Gucci thought up one good line writing the hook, got lazy, and decided to repeat that line over and over.

yeah its gucci time but hes just a phase and his times running out soon. Im not going to lie, I have got some entertainment out of his music but when it comes down to it, the dude cant rap! And swizz stick to your beats dont rap. Dont mean to hate but, mannnnnn

I'm going to say I like this....Swizz does his thing on beat....Gucci dare I say stepped up his rap game this time around! (which isnt actually saying much)
The hook was weak, rappers are just getting lazier and lazier....but I would bang this on my iPod, I would like to see Weezy murk this beat when he gets out!! |

I don't like the production, it gets annoying after a while to me. Gucci Mane is, as usual, a bad excuse for a rapper but he seems to do a little better than usual. Swizz Beatz was okay on his verse and on the hook. Overall, it's not the worst I've ever heard from Gucci, but I still would never listen to it.

Uhhhhh. I know everyone assumes I'll criticize Gucci's rhymes, but you know exactly what you're going to get with him. I've come to peace with Gucci long ago. Swizz however, is another story. I'm starting to seriously turn against his man. He's been making the same beat - pounding drums, repetitive synth loop, repetitive vocal shouts - for at least the last five years.
I don't even care to defend myself from the inevitable "why are you a hater?" comments. This is wack, and I'm too tired to not call out wackness when I hear it today.

Gucci is my new guilty pleasure! Dude got a nice clear flow with no bullshit punchlines to hide everything. Sometimes its elementary, but that's what gives him his appeal. This is pretty cool right here. I think the production is pretty tight by Swizz, and Gucci does his usual south flow on the beat. Cool Chorus for the Ballers out there!
