Greenspan - Calling Me [Premiere]
Artist: Greenspan
Producer: DJ Booman
Album: Got Green Vol. 2 Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
Since ending his stint as Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan’s been a busy, busy man – not only has he been working as a consultant and private advisor, but he’s grown several decades younger, learned to rap and… oh, this isn’t the same guy? It’s the Greenspan who brought us Headbop back in August ‘09? Sh*t, my bad. Today, the DMV emcee makes his return to our pages with Callin’ Me, a new single (and Booth-exclusive world premiere!) which finds him in the grips of a blossoming romance. Over DJ Booman‘s upbeat boardwork, centered around an old-school soul sample I wasn’t able to I.D. (anyone?), the up-and-comer describes his relationship with that special girl in intricate bars laced with expressions of love and undying devotion. Like what you’re hearing? To paraphrase the artist himself, Greenspan won’t be hard to find in the weeks ahead – as a matter of fact, he’s teamed up with DJBooth.net to drop his latest mixtape. Be sure to tune in on July 12, when Got Green Vol. 2 hits our front page for free streaming and download!

This record proves that artists read my comments in our feature threads. How many times have I said that I am a total sucker for old school R&B soul samples? And what does Greenspan do on his newest record? Yup, he enlists Booman and a bunch of dope soul samples. We have on our hands a winner.
PS. I doubt Booman sampled an old soul record because of my comments, but its great to think that it played a part haha. |

I love the verse/hook production shift on this, and Greenspan's voice stands out in a great way.
Something about Green's energy makes it seem as if he's not the only one contributing on this track, which is fantastic. Nice all-around. |

I remember reading every time Z mention old school samples, hah looks like this might settle him. Not the best feature but definitely worth listening to. Still want some one to come in and straight kill something like this. Would love to hear Cole on a track like this.

Z - I am also a sucker for those old Soul Samples...That's probably why Kanye got me as many times as he has! With that being said, the beat on here is Sick! Greenspan's flow is smooth on here too. Not a bad outing!

I could have done with a much shorter intro, but once the track gets moving it's damn good, especially when that bass line kicks in. Just a damn good, enjoyable track.
