Two weeks ago, DJBooth posted the new Gorilla Zoe track, I’m Dumb, off his upcoming mixtape, No B*tch Ass Ness. Many members noted the track’s similarity to his debut single, Hood Figga. Apparently, Big Block and Diddy thought so too, leading them to leak the official first single, showing (what else?) Gorilla Zoe’s addiction to hustling On The Corner. This time, Zoe serves up a summer anthem with the help of Sean Kingston and J.R. Rotem‘s street and club-ready beat, which samples DNA and Suzanne Vega‘s classic, Tom’s Diner. While it’s definitely a good sign to see Gorilla Zoe thinking outside the Bad Boy/Block Ent. box for collaborations, will it translate to hit success? To quote the Magic 8-ball, “Outlook Good.”
DAMN! Zoe did his thing on here, and Sean Kingston blessed another track with a great, catchy chorus. This is a BANGER for sure. I'm also gonna give Zoe some credit because he has already proven himself as a new artist who can make a hit record with no guest features, unlike other new artists (Plies, Flo Rida, etc). Overall- Good summer jam to bump, this is his best since Hood Figga.
J.R. drops some solid production, with buzzing synths and flute and guitar. Its got a nice summer feel to it, Sean Kingston drops a decent hook, catchy like he's hook on "That's Gangsta" with Bun B. Solid single, I think it will have success, lyrically it isn't anything other than the normal, grinding and hustling. Pretty good single, but I don't bump Zoe too much, so not in my rotation, but maybe others.
This track is pretty cool, and Sean Kingston does another great job on another Rappers Chorus (See Bun B's Gangsta). The beat is tight on here. Gorilla Zoe is the weak point of the track. His lyrics are pretty average on here, and his delivery lacks enthusiasm.
I could of sworn I've heard this track a long time ago, because I distinctly remember the Sean Kingston chorus and how it was sung. Zoe is pretty decent man. He's definitely not a throwaway rapper, especially with this joint. He has his own style and hooking up with Rotem and Sean Kingston was one of the best moves he could've done ever. The production is solid. 4 stars.
Oh snap! I know why it's sounds familiar! I just read the description by Burmy. The hook is a cover-style of "Tom's Diner", which I've never heard before either, but I know it was the same case with 2pac's "Dopefiend's Diner" that I remember hearing on here.
J.R. Rotem always surving up those Club ready beats. This song is a banger and Zoe does his thing with the help of a catchy tune by Kingston. Its a Banger for sure.
Zoe got another one. I'm not a fan, but the beat is deffinatly club banger material. The hook takes me back, doe's anyone remember the name of the song this was taken from? Hot shit!
Sean Kingston is the KING of singing the old school-new school hook. He and JR got that game on lock. Big ups to Zoe for recognizing he didn't have a winner in his last single attempt and rolled out a new one. This is a hit record.
This track coulda been a lot better. Kingston coulda done a lot more with the hook... rather than repeating "she said stop whoa whoa whoa" 4 times in a row because that gets too repetitive. Then Zoe's lyrics aren't that great. Coulda been a hot track, but it seems to me that it's a little too boring to be a huge hit.
yeah yeah! i'ma huge fan of zoe, so i like everything he puts out...but this is the single for sure! kingston on the hook it's a wrap DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS comin real soon now! let's go!
still not a Kingston fan.....hearing him talk sometimes and sing ...he jamaican when he wanna be...sometimes he got a accent and sometimes he dont....wtf...but he does deliver on hooks....this is ok..Zoe still hasnt done anything amazing as far as spitting ..nothing that blows me away....
DJ Z ... lol ... Sean Kingston is the master of singing old school-new school hooks. He is making a wonderful living off recycling old hooks. I am glad that Gorilla Zoe redeemed himself after that "I'm Dumb" track.
Banger all the way...I agree with cb126405, Zoe made his first hit single all by himself (with no collabos), and now folks are jumping on his bandwagon. From what I've heard, "Don't Feed the Animals" will top "Welcome to the Zoo" by leagues and fathoms! Can't wait till it drops...
I'm feelin this. Gorilla Zoe is doing his thing. And Sean Kingston killed the chorus. And that is something cause the only time i really liked Sean Kingston was on "colors" by The Game
Nice move to leak this single. "I'm dumb" produced a dumb look on my face. This made me smile. Sean Kingston chorus is contagious catchy and sells the song.
Im not liking this. Beats kinda wack. you people like crap sometimes. Maybe its because I did not like the song there sampling here and they just made it worse.
