Where does an 800-pound gorilla sit? The answer, of course is, “Wherever it wants.” Similarly, when you’ve got a mic game as gigantic as that of Arkansas repper and Suga City member Goines, you get to do what you damn well please—whether it’s breaking precedent by dropping not one but two DJBooth.net freestyles, or (as is the case today) stomping onto our homepage with the world premiere of your latest effort. The inaugural leak off the artist’s forthcoming street album, Runnin’ finds Goines throwing his weight around over a gritty, sax-infused instrumental by Booth-acclaimed beat crew SMKA. In braggadocios, swagger-drenched verses, Goines mercilessly taunts the competition, advising them to “Get a Plan B—matterfact, give up / Or maybe write a book bout how them crooks overlook us.” Topped off with some hoarse chorus vocals from guest singer Joshua (of local crew Velvet Kente), Runnin is just one of many fresh selections set for inclusion on Goines’ DJBooth-hosted Something to Lose street album, set to hit our mixtape page June 21.

Good to hear from Goines again (welcome back, my friend). Lots of catchiness on display here. Props to the emcee for hooking up with our friends SMKA, who provide a very enjoyable beat backdrop.

This song puts an image in my head of a slow-mo scene, where a dude is walking down a sidewalk, and behind him is a huge explosion. Pretty much just a stereotypical badass. But that's probably all just from the bass riff through out the song. nonetheless I'm really diggin this keep it comin

Like this alot. It has a lot of edge or attitude. SMKA make absolute bangers. The chorus was cool, I was feelin' the Rock vibe. Goines' flow is great. Solid tune.

Is it even possible for Goines to release a song that isn't dope? Every track I've heard from him, I've had to put on repeat. Combine his rhymes, voice, and style with some good work on the boards by SMKA and it makes for a very enjoyable listen.
The only thing I can nitpick about is that occasionally his breath control seems to get a bit off track on his songs. Some of his verses sound as if he's holding his breath during his delivery. |

Massive intro. Rest of the song didn't live up to it. Still big though.
