Is it humanly possible to achieve a level of dopeness greater than that of Suga City emcee Goines? Considering the staggering amount of acclaim he received for his first feature, Jim Brown, I have my doubts – and, as the Arkansas native explains on world premiere number two off his forthcoming, Kevin Nottingham/DJBooth-sponsored street album, it might be dangerous to even try. On Dope as Me, the eight-bit synth-bass, chilled-out organ and subdued percussion of beatsmiths JP and Kwestion set the stage for Goines’ stern verses, which find him celebrating his own mic skills while warning the younger generation to keep their priorities straight: “To them n*ggas who be thinkin’ it’s cool, talkin’ bad to your teachers and suspended from school / you need to wise up before you’re gone and your time’s up.” Topped off with JP’s hook vocals, this cut and much more can be found on Lead By Example - Leaders Are Real People 2 when it drops on May 19. In the meantime, keep it locked – Goines’ next feature will be a Booth exclusive freestyle!

After "Jim Brown," you'd be hard pressed to find too many people not willing to at least press play to see what Goines has to offer on his latest Booth premiere. While this doesn't bang as hard as Brown, the production is really solid and Goines flow is infectious.
I'll give slight knocks to the less than impressive hook vocals and redundant topic selection/theme, but the end result is rotation-worthy indeed.

damn it seem like everybody got a mohawk...flow caught my attention so good job...the beat is forgettable...those melodies suck sorry and so does that hook not a solid song...just a freestyle imo this should have been considered as one because i know some of the people write their freestyles?! don't argue! kanye does it sometimes, he even admitted it..i take that back the hook is decent but its the way he sang it ill bum it up one star...

At first, I thought the beat was lacking. So once I turned up the volume the beat got better. If that's him singing, its not bad.

I like this track alot. Goines spits hard and shows off a different side to his style than what we heard on Jim Brown. Can't wait for the mixtape. Actually, let me stop fronting like I dont work with this cat. The mixtape is dope. You all wont be disappointed.

once again!!! anybody repping from the south. AND GOT A MESSAGE! ALWAYS GET A GRADE "A" IN MY BOOK! THERE'S NOTHIN WRONG WITH CRITICISM.and i agree he should show a little more variety. but, if anything to get "branded" for.. why not let it be a positive message. and if thats all he has to show and prove....THIS DUDES GONNA BREAKTHRU!!!! Ok, head bouncin a lil bit...like the chorus, this guy's pretty good... his flow's definitely solid but the beat broke this one though, you either gotta go hard or do something different, this is almost neither. It didn't match his style.

Goines has been a force not to be taken lightly for quite some time now. Great to see that he is finally getting the publicity he deserves. He's as dope as ever and the song is nothing less than that. Keep gettin it!

Song started off pretty slow, but once the beat kicked in Goines really had my attention. I liked this song mainly for the verses. Singing on the hook wasn't bad, but it was not nearly as appreciated as the verses. If he had just rapped throughout the entire song this would have been a banger. Nice word play plus decent hook rounds out to an all around decent song.

After "Jim Brown" I was eager to give this one a play. Not sure the mohawk goes wit the polo though. He brings the heat for sure but I enjoyed his previous record more. The hook is good but not great and not sure it fits in with the rest of the song. I feel he should have stepped his game up further but he kinda tripped for me.

7 years and I still stand by my dude as one of few coldest artist in AR...and if you watch Jp come up wit these hooks on the fly u would be amazed and hard pressed to find talent like this..Unless..Its Tha Bully Gang..Dopnest.CONDUIT for life...Bully Gang till Death

Pretty impressed with today's line-up of indy records, and this doesn't stray from that. The hook arrangement could have been done better, but overall a solid listen.

Solid track from Goines. At first listen I thought it was a good 3 but after I took a break, listened to the other features tonight, then put this on repeat I'm gonna have to up it about a star.

Goines goes in!! The production has many different aspects throughout the song and keeps you hooked in.
His lyrics are hot too, he is definitely on my radar now after this and Jim Brown. |

I thought my phone was vibrating when I heard the production, not a good look. The hook is nothing impressive. Goines seems very immature on this track, lyrically.

Something fresh, but Jim Brown was easily the better track. Still, I should judge each track on its individual merits. Liked the verses, the hook and the beat, but they don't seem to work as well together as I'd like. This track needs an element to give it just a little extra bit of energy.

as @Z said this is an overused topic but goines does it better than most- his flow and rhymes lift him above the throng of try-hards rapping about nothing. nice beat also

Can't deny talent!!!!! Been following Goines for a while and has NEVER been let down, but stay true to your style. Don't fall victim to the that "ANALOGY" rappin it's so today!!!! As usual JP killingem on tha hook and Kwestion with another hot track. This has the potential of radio/video play.
