By the end of 2008’s 4th quarter, all of G.O.O.D. Music’s “Big Three” will have released albums; John Legend‘s Evolver is available now, Kanye West‘s 808s & Heartbreak drops November 25, and Common‘s Universal Mind Control brings up the rear with a December 9 release date. After the triple blast, however, fellow Chicago native GLC will step up to the plate and drop his debut. To get folks ready, GLC has released a prequel mixtape, named after one of his more frequently-played buzz singles (and one of my very first written blurbs), I Ain’t Even On Yet. Featured on the project is the West-produced Heaven, which reminds us that since this world isn’t perfect, it’s best to aim for a place that is. DJBooth was in attendance at GLC’s listening party on Monday evening and will feature a full-length interview with the emcee in the coming weeks.

This was nice. His flow was kinda boring but I could still listen to this. He reminds me of Common.

Chill beat and good lyrics. I put it in rotation. Seems kinda boring though.

Dang! LOL. What did WOW :) say to get her comment just SLASHED! LOL. Anyways, GLC is my guy, but I wasn't really digging this joint. I mean, the lyrics were really ill. But the beat needed to be way louder and maybe a little more feeling in the flow from GLC would have made the track WAY BETTER . Right now, it just gets rotation...but with some improvement to this, like a re-recording and new mix on the engineering tip, this is some real ish! No one is touching Chicago hip hop man. You can always count on them for the intelligent, socially aware lyricism. But what's up with this mixtape stuff? When is GLC going to be able to drop an actual "ALBUM" on some mainstream status and get the buzz that as least Consequence has been allowed to get on Ye's coattails. Any details about what's up with that Z?

This must be one of Kanye's old beats right here. Bad quality; alil muffled. GLC is cool but has yet to break out as far as grabbing my attention. This is cool though, I'll play it!

I'm not feelin this, this is not a song, it's a monologue with a silent music in the background. Not for me

So disappointed in the beat, must have been one of kanye's throw aways. It really killed the song for me.

I'm liking GLC's flow on this, and I like the lyrics. The beat could've been louder, but I think it went good with GLC's flow. Overall, it was pretty good.

I heard of him on Kanye's Late Registration-Drive slow. He has a surprisingly Dirty south rapping style for a Chi-town rapper which (not to stereotype them) doesn't really fit the message that is trying to be provoked. Don't get me wrong this was good effort by this artist but only enjoyed the production
