Perhaps the most popular sample in DJBooth history, the “Da da da-da…” hook from Suzanne Vega’s Tom’s Diner has been heard on cuts by 2Pac, Gorilla Zoe, Kevin Cossom, Mike Dreams and Al Gator – and, amazingly, each artist has managed to use the snippet in a unique, creative fashion. On new promo single She Be Like, Git Fresh become the sixth act to flip said sample in the Booth, and the results are, true to the R&B quintet’s collective stage name, pretty damned fresh. Over LamB‘s handclap percussion and glittering synths, Pretty $ly, Penny, Rude Boi, Ezay and Ace Valentine showcase their smooth vocals as they pay tribute to a chick they met at Club Living Room, and are hoping to take home to their living room. Though this regional hit isn’t slated for inclusion on any forthcoming project, Git Fresh have plenty of collaborative work lined up for the near future; in addition to handling songwriting duties on Trina‘s next single, the group are set to contribute guest vocals and production to club-hop heavyweight Flo Rida‘s forthcoming LP.

Suzanne Vega must get hella publishing checks! Imagine all the royalties she must enjoy on a "every 30 days I'm going out for dinner!" basis. Richard wasn't kidding - the guys put a fun, fresh, club-ready, spin on the classic melody.
The content itself is stale, but the aim here is for radio/club play and in that vein I could see it getting spins.

I been listening to this group since they were called "Deep Side". They had great tracks then as well as they do now. Its unfortunate that this group hasnt had the success that has put them on the Billboard charts yet. Track after track you can hear true talent lyrically as well as producing. You may not like their recent singles as much, but do take the time to check out their other songs that are def bangers! Im looking forward to watching the success of these boys soon! This first, second , and third round renditions destroy any likability for this song. I could see a top 40's station playing this but I don't see any longevity for this song..at least not in the North East.
