Git Fresh - Swag Up ft. Jamie Foxx & Rick Ross
Artist: Git Fresh
Featuring: Jamie Foxx , Rick Ross
Producer: Bigg D
Album: Untitled (TBD)
Label: International Music Group/Def Jam
In the last several years, the lines between R&B and hip-hop have been growing increasingly blurred; the “typical rap topics” of money, cars, jewels, and women have found their way into R&B joints, while female-oriented ballads are often rappers’ biggest hits. You couldn’t look for a better example of this phenomenon than Git Fresh—if their name change (they used to be called Deepside) didn’t tip you off to the fact that they had some genre-bending planned, take a listen to their brand-new single, on which they challenge all haters to either get their Swag Up or step aside. Household name Jamie Foxx steps into the spotlight on the second verse while Rick Ross dominates on the front and back ends. Complete with a beat by hip-hop veteran Bigg D, Swag Up is the latest chapter in the ongoing fusion of rap and R&B. Booth-heads need not hate—Git Fresh are simply trying to expand their fanbase by offering the best of both worlds.

Not bad. The production was decent and Git Fresh sounded pretty good. The guest features were tight. Rotation for this track.

Still not hearing anything different from this group... Jamie Foxx is the best part on this. Ross has long proved himself to be a good feature artist, just often forgotten about.

Personally, I am sick of "swag" songs. However, this isn't bad at all. Nice urban-pop mix and Ross sounds great over this Bigg D production. I'd like to see these guys finally get a record to pop (no pun intended) at radio - I have a feeling this one is it.

It is a kinda cool song, but I'm just sick of songs like this. So its just OK. I have to say, although he doesnt stray from the same tired lyrical material, "Officer" Ricky continues to impress wit his vibe and confidence. The rest of the track was just aight 2 me. Good vocals and kinda catchy but nothin too captivating

As overused as the topic is, i think the production freshens it up. I personally like this ... mainly bcos i became a fan of Bigg D's prod. the moment i heard "Breezy - Down ft. Yeezy" for the first time (one of my fav. tunes)...
I’ll admit to never being a huge Ross fan, but I’ve always enjoyed his guest spots ... I just gotta quote Juanito88 - Ricky continues to impress wit his vibe/delievery & confidence, rather than wit his lyrics ... either way its all good... Git Fresh sound decent on the track. Delivery is smooth and non-annoying... & Foxx does this song a favor... each of their inclusions made the overall effort more impressive... This one can hit radio pretty hard... BANGA!!! |

I thought this one was well deserving of a 3 star. Yea the lyrics are a little whack but Git Fresh delivers most of the time and adding two well known artists is a huge plus. Throw it in with that pretty decent production and I can keep this one around.

Like Z, I was hesitant to click on this one after seeing "Swag" in the title, but I'm glad I clicked. Production is nice and smooth, Ross starts and ends the song nicely, Jamie Foxx is the king of smooth, and Git Fresh do their thang! Ross made the song in my opinion, but its a banger!

Git Fresh has some good vocals and this production is pretty catchy. Jamie Foxx sounds good and Rick Ross keeps impressing me with his improved flow. This is a nice club track

Ugh, I don't want to be in the club when this track comes on. Not a fan at all. Beat is just ok, the flows are inconsistent for sure. I hate to do this, but I can't even put this into rotation, knowing I'll never listen to this song again.
@Big-A - It's not exactly fair to judge a song without actually listening to it first. For all you know, the song could have had nothing to do with swag (though it does). Try and listen to the song first, before you make your judgement. Just a suggestion. |

This song is ok, but I expected for it to be off the chain because of rick ross and foxx. They need to step their game up more on the next single.

Let me just say I love their song Like A Woman so I hope this is just as good. I would have been cool with Rick Ross not being on here. I'm also not really feeling the production. The concept of the song is cool, but it's just too generic. I see they were trying to get a song out that would fit the spring/summer vibe, but its just not cutting it. If this came on the radio I would turn it off. All of their voices sound unique and unique voices can't sing on everything. Its not good enough for radio...if they were to put this out it would flop on the billboards.

I think a faster beat woulda made this song a banger. But i also dont personally like the git fresh gang's boytoy image singin a swag song. Soulja boy owns the swag title after "Turn my Swag on," and i dont think anyones beating tht. But the big boss and foxx have mi respect from blame it and usual suspects, so i aint hatin on this song. Pretty good song.

i keep waiting for this group to deliver the promise they had with "booty music" and continue to be disappointed. this is yet another generic song from a group that has more potential than this

Damn, this track is getting low ratings...
I like this song, i think its a banger...Jamie Foxx kills it...although i'd wish he's come off the autotune, he really doesnt need it... |

I'm not happy with the name change. Deepside fits them a lot better and I don't like their new sound. This disappoints.

Rick Ross and Jamie killed it but other than them I don't hear anything special about this group personally. But it is a good song with great production.
