Ginuwine - Get Involved ft. Timbaland & Missy Elliot
Artist: Ginuwine
Featuring: Timbaland , Missy Elliot
Producer: Timbaland
Album: A Man's Thoughts
Label: Notifi/Fontana
Ever since pop stardom became a viable career path, musicians have been using big-name cosigns to get a leg up in the industry (even the Beatles had their George Martin). Though artists often drift apart from their early collaborators as they grow into established hitmakers, the best of them make sure to to link up with their old friends once in a while. Just ask R&B vet Ginuwine, who rejoins forces with two past collaborators on potential single Get Involved. Knowing of no other way to recapture the musical magic he, Missy Elliot, and Timbaland made back in the day, G has enlisted his old friends for a reunion record. Brimming with that classic vibe, this track is sure to leave longtime fans overjoyed. A Man’s Thoughts is set to hit stores June 23rd; for the lowdown on the forthcoming album as well as the story behind this epic collaborative cut, check out Ginuwine’s recent interview with our own DJ Z.

With this lineup I was expecting something great, and I was disappointed. Ginuwine is one of my favorite R&B singers, mostly because of his early work with Timbo that got me into him. Missy is my favorite female rapper, precisely because of her work wit Timbo. If this track had an older Timbaland vibe on it I would have loved it.
The production is nothin special, and it and Timbalands vocals are leaning waaay too far to the mainstream side. Ginuwine is a great singer, but his vocals weren't showcased on this bland melody. Missy does her thing, but it would have been much better over different production. |

I was really disappointed with a lineup like this. The production was too mainstream and I think they were trying too hard to make a club hit. Ginuwine doesnt get his shine because the way the song is made. Missy Elliot and Timbaland do pretty good and the hook is alright...Decent listen

Not the BEST collaboration-effort between these three, but its great to hear them all together on a track none-the-less. It's hard to match near pop-perfection of decade's past.

This just sounds like an average pop track to me, which is a disappointment considering the line-up. Timbo's production was very sub-par for the A-list producer that he is. Ginuwine didn't impress me too much and Missy was OK. It was kind of enjoyable, but also way below my expectations.

For a Timbo produced track, this was disappointing, though its still better then 70% of the tracks being released (or leaked) at the moment.
What's going on with the music industry at the moment anyway, this is usually the time of year when a ton of dope tracks get released, but this season has been pretty quite in comparison to the last couple of years. |

hmm, Missy Elliot was the only one that did good on this, Ginuwine didnt shine as much... Timbaland was aite on the hook but i think it gets too repetitive, i guess its in rotation for me

Agreed with everyone above me. Missy killed it, as always. I love that woman. It's going in rotation, because of my girl Missy.

This isnt what I was expecting at all, i have been anxious as hell bout a mans thoughts, prolly my most anticipated album this year, but this isnt anything up to par 2 what im lookin forward to.... that said, its got hella good club potential, you can tear it up to that hook...in rotation |

Drop on agree with @ultimate hip-hop ...
the overly commercial leaning of it makes the whole experience more uncomfortable than anything ... Timbo & Missy sounds very comfortable & at home over this instrumental, although I can’t say the same about Ginuwine who sounds out of place over this beat ... It's not something that his voice or persona really lend themselves to ... However I would enjoy this at the club, or at a party... |

its not like how timbo and ginuwine used to sound in the 90's but its a good song for today. the production by timbo is always a 10 with the collab from tim himself and missy is a def plus. this track is a club banger and the radios are gonna play this like crazy.

This is definitely one of those cases where you get your hopes wayyyy up... only to be let down. You can't even tell it's Ginuwine's song. His vocals were recorded way too low. And the hook/chorus Timbalands got goin on there is not repetitive-catchy - it's repetitive-vulgarity. I can't even remember Missy's part in the song because I was so disgusted with everything else. Straight garbage. I say go back to the studio and (RIP Aaliyah) "...dust yourself off and try again, again, again..."

Man Timbaland is one of my favorite producers, ginuwine is a cold singer (at least his older stuff was) missy is one of the best female rappers. But this song was a dissapointment, timbo could've gone harder

Honestly this isn't their best, all I can say is Timbo is the only person who can make a repetitive hook like this tolerable. I love the beat, I don't understand why such low ratings...

Great club vibe; as seen on the radio, mediocre chart potential.
Not the Ginuwine I know though. |
