Much of Ginuwine‘s recent interview with DJ Z focused on the ways in which the singer has matured, both musically and personally, since ‘96’s The Bachelor (the most obvious being that G has been happily married for the past six years). Old habits, however, die hard—on this cut, included on the singer’s Last Chance EP (out now), as well as his forthcoming A Man’s Thoughts LP (set to drop on 6/23), G seems to have returned to the racier subject matter of his early work. The newly-released record finds Ginuwine kicking back at his local club, where he notices a certain “Pony-rustler” dancing seductively as she draws closer and closer to him—one more step, and there’s gonna be Trouble! Asylum labelmate Bun B sets the mood with an eight-bar opener (woulda been nice if he had more bars closer to the end), but it’s Mr. Dante “Inferno” Jackson’s beat that elevates Trouble to club-scorcher status. Bottom line: Ginuwine knows how to appeal to longtime fans and newcomers alike—if he can maintain that appeal throughout A Man’s Thoughts, solid reviews are sure to follow.

I cannot blame G for not featuring more of Bun, because lets face it... Bun has a tendency to take over the records he is featured on as a guest artist. With that said, I too would have loved to hear a back 8 (or 16) from Bun. Overall, a quality record.

This is a banger right here! Bun B was good, and Ginuwine was great on here. The production especially did it for me! I haven't heard a lot of Ginuwine, but I really like what I've heard from him.

Bun was very solid on his verse. I too would have liked to hear him on the back-end but I understand why G didn't go that route. Ginuwine sounded pretty good himself, though. I would say 3.5 for this, though it could grow to a 4 in the near future.

Props to Ginuwine for getting back in the game first of all. Ok this song is actually pretty good. I like how he brought back his older style and brought a rapper on that wasn't just mainstream crap. Ginuwine is still well respected and he shows it by returning to his natural habitat by having some great songs.

This is a much better track then the Timbaland produced 'Get Involved'. The production suited Ginuwine well, while Bun B is always a great choice for a guest feature.

Um...everything's been said. :( So, copy and paste everyone else.
Evidently, I'm giving this 4 stars, because that's locked in on the little star-rating thingy (you'd think that working for the Booth, I'd actually have a name for it). Oh well. I was going to give it 4 anyway. It just gives me a sense of authority and independence when I click on the...uh...star-rating thingy? Eh, it's 3:20 in the a.m. over here, and I obviously need some sleep. Bangin' track. I respect this. |

Classic Ginuwine right here. Bun B should have more lines but either way they fitted on this production perfectly (a little exaggeration).

This beat is catchy and Ginuwine's vocals are perfect as usual. Bun B's verse could of been longer but you cant ask for that much more from The Underground King. The hook is hot and the whole vibe of this song is smooth! Diggin this!

The beat is hot. Ginuwine is one of the last R&B artist that is true to the genre. He puts out classics that you will love ten years later. Also I want to say WHAT'S UP BUN? It's Still UGK 4 Life, and we still holding you down out here in Port Arthur, Texas A.K.A. P.A.T. Definently a Banger 4 stars.

This is a song for the summer, catchy and energetic. Ginuwine sings wonderfully, Bun B was ok. I'd gladly listen to this on the radio but I've heard better!

I love Ginuwine, and this reminds me more of his older stuff than anything I've heard recently. The hook is catchy, the vocals are supersmooth, and Bun's guest verses is-well, you know...

G-Wine sang on that one. Being an R&B fan, I want to hear G sing, and have no desire to hear Bun B or any other rapper take time from G.

Ironically, about a week before Last Chance debuted on the Foxxhole (Jaime Foxx's show on Sirius) I was wondering where the hell Gin was...I like this song enough to put it in clean-up-the-crib-on-Saturday mixtapes. Plus how can you go wrong with Bun B and a Bernie (Dolla Bill) Mac sample?
As I listen to it again this gets another star! |
