Gilbere Forte' - My Time
Artist: Gilbere Forte'
Featuring: STS
Producer: Gilbere Forte, Bengi, Rio and Raak
Album: 87 Dreams
Label: EPIC
If you’re not already on EST, you may want to reset your clocks; on his first Booth feature Gilbere Forte’ informs hip-hop heads worldwide: “This is My Time.” Here, the Philly-based up-and-comer joins up with a Booth-approved neighbor to craft a single expressly designed to wake up anyone’s been sleeping on him. Over a bombastic, bass-booming synth-string beat by the artist and co-producers Bengi, Rio and Raak, Forte makes his grand entrance, dropping bars drenched in pop-referential punchlines: ”Cookin’ up some Wild Things, No Kevin Bacon, never bow down to the pigs, a’salaam alaikum.” Another rising star from the City of Brotherly Love, cheesesteaks and cracked bells, Demand More 2 rapper STS, steps up to the mic to deliver some “smooth as satin” flows on verse two. Gilbere Forte’s confidence is undeniable, but does he have the skills to back up his braggadocio? Only time will tell. If you like what you’re hearing, keep it locked for the latest on his 87 Dreams mixtape, which has yet to receive a solid release date.

Gilbere provides a real solid introduction with "My Time." He sounds uber-confident on the mic, his lines are sharp and witty, and his chops on the production tip are impressive (I say that not knowing how much he actually contributed to this beat). Along with the STS co-sign, who Booth readers know is a regular around these parts, Forte has my attention loud and clear.

I wish the beat never dropped into a dirty south beat, it wouldve been so much better in how it flows in the begining of the first verse

Nice Introduction. Forte's rhymes/flow seem more polished than most first time Booth featured artists. STS is underrated. I'd like to hear more from this guy.

Man, me and DJ Chi Mez are on the same page today. I really liked the snares on this, I was actually a little dissapointed when the bigger beat kicked in. This could have been a banger if it was a little more minimalistic.
But I don't want to overlook how much I was digging Forte. The man's definitely got some energy, and his flow's precise. Man's got a bright future. |

Contains that amped up feeling that really gets you pumped to do something big. I liked Gilbere's flow. Beat was nice as well. Gilbere gets the award for best performance, in terms of both hook duty and verses. Production could have been better and Sugar Tongue Slim really didn't have my full attention when he started spitting, although it was a pretty good effort.

His lyrics are very cliche, nothing U haven't heard before. The production get more annoying as the track goes on. Not feelin this one.

I enjoyed the overall feel of this track and rapping is solid here. The arrangement is pretty standard, and I must say, the accompaniment can get rather annoying due to the overall length of the track.
