Ghostface Killah - Together Baby
Producer: Yakub
Album: The Apollo Kids
Label: Def Jam
If you weren’t completely feeling Wu-Tang representative Ghostface Killah‘s detour into modern R&B territory on Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry... well, then I don’t get you, because that album was dope. Regardless, I think we can all agree that it’s good to hear the rap legend back to his old tricks on Together Baby, the lead single off his forthcoming follow-up. Starks is still all about the ladies here, but the overall effect is grittier than anything on his last effort, with Yakub serving up an instrumental that ricochets between an old-school soul hook and a claustrophobic brass loop (both sampled from The Intruders’ Together) as Iron Man offers his version of the ideal night at the club: getting tipsy on ‘Jimmy Neutrons’ (which are apparently a mix of Patron and Nuvo), dancing and, of course, spitting game to all the fly honeys at the spot. The moral of this story? In Ghost’s own words, “When it comes to baggin’ a chick, don’t be aggressive / I get girls, y’all fellas is desperate.” The Apollo Kids drops December 14; I know what I’m getting all the Wu Tang-lovers in my life for the holidays…

If you are a fan of Ghost its impossible to listen to this new record and not dig it. Its not his best work, but nothing the Wu Tang alum does is ever sub-par...

This is pretty cool. I like the production better than I like Ghost on here, but he still lays it down pretty well. I can dig it.

I’m definitely a fan of Ghost, but this isn’t like the material from his first solo album “Ironman” that album’s a classic. This is a hot ass song nonetheless, BANGER for sure. IMO

I was hooked in the first 15 seconds. The only thing I didn't love was the pitched down trailing overdubs in the first verse. I probably wouldn't have gone that route but I can live with it. On repeat!

I liked the introduction of this track, I think he should of stood with that production instead of switching it up later.
