Sick and tired of the same-old jams that dominate both the mainstream and the underground, three hip-hop heavyweights have joined forces to shake up the status quo. The first Booth feature from the Get Busy Committee finds veteran emcees Ryu (Styles of Beyond, Demigodz) and Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs) and rapper/superproducer Scoop Deville Chillin Out and Maxin outside the school, shooting some hoops – among other things. Over Scoop and Apathy’s retro-informed, cymbal-heavy groove (complete with a few hilariously reconfigured samples from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme), the threesome deliver bars laced with tongue-in-cheek threats and cleverly convoluted boasts. (“We bring the noise like Flava, we’re major/ you’re minor like Southeast Asia – I’m China”) Craving more? The GBC’s self-produced, self-funded and self-released debut set, Uzi Does It is out now in a number of unusual forms – T-Shirt, collectible toy, uzi-shaped USB stick... – and is set to hit Amazon, iMusic and all other online retailers Nov. 10.

I feel like Fresh Prince has been making a comeback, I've seen/heard a lot of references lately (shout out to Carlton). Anyway, the verses are ok, but I'm loving the sample. 3 stars it is.

Definitely feeling this. I like the retro flavor mixed with the rough and playful west coast rhymes. Banger for me.

I'm not really ready for a Fresh Prince comeback. I hope I never hear this again. I'm not issuing a rating of "garbage" becuz I'm sure they put some work into this. I just think they should go back and try it again.

When I saw the title, I to thought of Fresh Prince, but I wasn't expecting them to straight jack the line out of the original song. Not cool at all, no originality here. Sampling is one thing, but straight off biting somebody's else's work with no attempt to put your own spin on it is not respectable.

^I think what you don't like is the definition of a sample in hip hop. You can sample a song like IZZO did Jackson 5, but you can also sample like A Dream did Biggie. I'm a big Will Smith fan, the fresh prince never left! I loved the sample and the production here. The verses weren't amazing, but they were definitely ORIGINAL. Despite Cool Kids similarities, GBC has their own flavor.
