The opening tune of a familiar soap opera is the perfect lead-in for GemStones’s appropriately-titled Skeletons, a lyrical look at the parts of our lives that we may all be hiding. On the new record, the Chi-Town emcee pulls a few bones out of a few closets, discussing self-medication with drugs, the sale of one’s body for a chance to buy the freshest kicks, and the self-hatred that results from this behavior. Producer Fallen Angels provides a melodic beat and fellow Chi-Town representative Sarah Green (see Lupe Fiasco‘s Intruder Alert) adds a chillingly soulful hook. Although there are some that lead completely honest lives, GemStones is calling out the rest of the nation on the metaphorical graveyards in their closets. GemStones’s new mixtape, The Testimony of GemStones, is due out on June 7.
Man, the Fallen Angels production is so nice! That's the same sample that was used on Immortal Technique's "Dance With The Devil". I can remember it distinctly. I've dug a few joints from GemStones in the past and look his work with Lupe like "We On" and his vocals on Food and Liquor and The Cool. This is his best solo joint to date! I'm loving it! 5 Stars. Man, I was losing hope about the other members of FNF and how they weren't going to be big forces like Lupe is...but this GemStones track shows me some great potential!
This is definatley hot. Some powerful lyrics here too. Its a good concept, which is nice and refreshing to see here. Sarah Green is amazing on this track.
this is immortal technique's beat on dancing with the devil, but it just repeats the beginning in dancing with the devil.
This is pretty good the beats been done... It relates to so many...
yah this is some real music...props to Gem speakin the truth...yo i made a trak similar to this...the audio production aint all that so be easy...peace1luv

I won't rate, "songs" with a man talking and a music in the background are not my cup of tea. Anyway I tried to listen to the lyrics, they are excellent! They would be better in a song with a beat in my opinion, this seems to be a monologue...good work, though
The insane part about GemStones is that he sings just as good as he raps and raps just as good as he sings. The man is truly gifted and honestly, this song doesn't even show all that talent.... just wait people.
I had a hard time trying to figure out if GEMSTONES (formerly know as Gemini) and BIG GEMINII (known simply as Geminii) were the SAME person! Although they’re not, they sure share one amazing GIFT: being able to SING AND RAP equally well. The similarities also extend to significant lyrical subject and a creative way of putting in words what they think. What more could I ask for?
I think this guy is kinda like Lupe in a way, his lyrics are great, like lupe in my opinion he makes songs out of beats he shouldnt be on and makes them HITS!, its great lol.
now that right there is a real track. I could only give it 3 cuz i dont consider it a club "banger" and it was kinda short so it kinda stopped b4 i could really get deep into it for it to be a "classic". but it's still a tight joint tho
Dude, Gemini is SICK. Sad he's only known as Lupe's man. I like all of the artists in Lupe's main feature catologue. I suggest others to check out another track he dropped, like the more recently dropped "Everything's Okay" with Bishop G, another artist you'll remember from Lupe's album.
Immortal Technique made these beat so memorable and emotional with "Dance with the Devil." GemStones was able to take that success and work off it smooth.
