I hear it’s pretty lonely at the top so lets consider the trio of wordsmiths consisting of Gameboi, XV, and Jon Connor your friendly neighborhood loners on former’s latest world premiere Top Of The World. While both Vizzy and Connor have released a steady stream of cuts on DJBooth, Top Of The World marks a return for the Michigan rhymesayer who has been absent from the site since his January release of Emergency. Despite featuring three very different emcee’s Top Of The World moves along pretty swiftly, which is partially due to the absence of a hook on the record, but when you’ve got such a variety of talented artists a hook could weigh down the song. Set to a soul-heavy, sample-driven beat from New England producer Statik Selektah, Top Of The World is simply three emcees swapping triumphant verses on their day-to-day victories. With the release of his Young & Restless album set for September 3, be on the lookout for more tunes from Gameboi in the near future.

This song first appeared on the Independent Chart on August 13, 2012

Danielle was spot on in mentioning that this song is so far superior because it lacks a hook, which would have ultimately broken up the pace, the flow and the overall vibe of the rhymes.

This was decent. I didn't like the first rapper's delivery. The production was pretty chill. Second and third rappers brought it back up to speed for me...

Feel the same way as djblaze. Gameboi needs to step his "game" up. Connor and XV are on point though.

Gameboi didn't prove himself to me on this record yet. Connor and Vizzy deliver content and quality per usual. 2/3 impressed.

I don't know how the last 3 comments aren't feeling Gameboi, I just think he sounds out of place next to Vizzy & Connor. Imagine if the track was just Gameboi with two verses, would that change your perspective not having to compare him? Hmm all I know is this track was alright, I liked all the verses more than the production. Statik to me was lazy on this one.
