Hip-hop fans didn’t know what to expect when they pressed play on Game’s new R.E.D. Album. Would it be more like the DJBooth (un)approved Pu**y Fight or more like the DJBooth approved Pot of Gold? That question was resoundingly answered on the album’s opening song The City. Cool & Dre get cinematic, deep and dark on the beat, giving Game plenty of fuel to drop some of the most passionate and honest verses we’ve heard from him. (Yeah, I was one of those critics who said LAX was average). But perhaps more notable is City’s guest verse which gives rising west coast star Kendrick Lamar his most high-profile placement to date; and good lord does Kendrick make the most of his opportunity. While I’m sure we’ll see a wide range of opinions in the comments below, frankly, if you’re not impressed by this than nothing Game does could impress you. While City is one of its best offerings, the rest of the R.E.D. Album isn’t too far behind, so if you’re feeling the intensity on this one be sure to pick up a copy.

Production is nice, but Kendrick is definitely the highlight of the track. I didn't even care for Kendrick before this song, but that ending verse was phenomenal. Overall, I'm highly pleased with the R.E.D. album.

wide range of opinions??? this should be nothing but banger and classic ratings
the beat is hot (i'm really feeling the "angels in the city" in the background), game's verses are great, and kdot effin kills the sh*t outta this undoubtedly a classic track in my opinion |

Kendrick was definitely the highlight for me. The spoken word chorus and that acapella verse were stellar. Game's lines were solid and ingenuous as well.

This is fire! Kendrick Lamar killed. The Game killed it also. Im so glad he took so long to come out with the R.E.D. Album, because this is a classic. I've only heard half of the album but the first half is a classic.

Cool production. I am a huge Kendrick fan, but I really don't like The Game that much. I feel like his voice doesn't compliment Kendrick's very well. Kendrick did his thing as always.

Standout the best song off the album...Kendrick kills every song he's on! Good look for Game to embrace the new best rapper from Compton. Beat is too epic. Sounds like a classic to me

Was never really a game fan ever since the 50 beef cuz i'm a southside representer lol, but all that juvenile crap aside Game did his thing and I been fuggin with Kendrick since Overly Dedicated. I won't say this my favorite track on the album (at the mo it's Mama Knows) but it goes it goes lol.

Really this album is insane, one of those long listens that takes a few spins to truly understand it's greatness and this is the song that sets it all off. Sounds like he is strangling the mic, like he wants the listeners to shit themselves, like he's got D.r. Dre pointing a gun at his head telling him, "Game, Aftermath needs a hit record". And man does he come through, not even Kendrick Lamar can outshine him and that's what K-Dot is build to do. The beat is beautiful, dark, slow and perfect setup for what the R.E.D. Album shapes up to be. Some of Game's best energy and lyrics on one song and one album.

I was seriously thinking that this would be one of those situations that in order to kill the beast (50) the hero had to also sacrifice himself but obviously this song and album prove that wrong.
