If you don’t want to burn out your retinas, now would be a good time to grab some shades – or a welder’s mask. As the up-and-coming emcee explains on new mixtape leak (and Booth debut) Star, Tha Future plans on shining so brightly that unwary bystanders risk being blinded. Everyone got their protective eyewear on? Good. This ambitious jam finds frequent Wiz Khalifa collaborator Johnny Juliano fortifying a sample from UK pop group Take That’s ‘07 single, Rule the World, with a stuttering percussion rhythm, booming bass and club-ready synth accents. Future matches the densely-packed instrumental with two verses’ worth of bracing motivational rhymes, complete with some appropriately out-of-this-world braggadocio: “I burn so bright in here, even the darkest nights is like daylight in here.” Future clearly has the passion to succeed, but is he truly destined for superstardom? We’ll be able to get a better idea early this March, when the rapper’s Ready to Launch v1.0 mixtape hits the ‘net.

Future sent us three new songs - we could have featured them all tonight (but that might not have gone over too well with our readers or the many artists who vie for a feature slot daily). Impressive!

Juliano always impresses and the rest is just a repeat button away.

You gotta have some cojones to call yourself tha future, but luckily the man delivers. I agree with djeclectric, the into could have been cut, but once that bass kicks in.....damn. Damn good track, although I feel like the production's the true star here. I'm gonna have to hear more from Future before I can get a good sense of his lyrical ability.

The day @Z contacted "The Future" over Twitter for a feature slot, I explored his Bandcamp page (every Rapper should have one), and I completely agree with @Bubba Elmwood bout Tha Future's progression in musical terms. Rotation fa sho!

I like the intro to this song, it builds up anticipation for the verse. Is that hook autotuned or is that his actual voice? Great production, nice rhymes.

The intro's length is puttin me in a bind as to where put this in rotation or not. No doubt the track is solid and what this guy is saying is real ish. Also the short length of the song is kind of steering me the wrong way, it could of been at least one minute longer. I'll try and give this a shot because this track comes in strong.

Future has been working hard for a long time! Glad to see that it's finally beginning to pay off! "Star" is one of our favorite new joints from him but you haven't heard nothing yet! 4 Alarm on top in 2010!
