French Montana - I'm on It
Artist: French Montana
Featuring: Big Sean , Nipsey Hussle , Wiz Khalifa
Producer: Johnny Juliano
Album: Mac N Cheese 2 Mixtape
Label: Bad Boy/Interscope
Have you ever watched a movie with a cast of young stars? You know, like that last Star Trek movie, where they recruited some of the best up and coming Hollywood actors? Well, think of that, apply it to rap and you have French Montana’s new single I’m on It. With an ensemble of XXL approved emcees like Big Sean, Nipsey Hussle and Booth favorite Wiz Khalifa, French creates the latest street anthem. Pittsburgh bred producer (412 Stand Up!) Johnny Juliano shows off his futuristic production (Star Trek-ish indeed) as he provides a dazzling backdrop for these new-schoolers to do their thing. French is the star of the show; the New York up and comer kicks off the track with a serviceable hook and a solid verse. Then, Khalifa man and Neighborhood Nip proceed to drop a bag full of strong bars that Big Sean sweeps up in his cleverly concocted concluding verse. Overall, I’m On It is a great launching pad to blast off French’s forthcoming Mac N Cheese 2 mixtape, but will it take off in the Booth? That’s up to you to decide.

Impressive lineup that doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed Big Sean's ending 16 the most, but kudos to Montana for putting this together.

Damn, star studded line up. All these guys are gonna blow up sooner or later. First off, the production is banging on this. Everyone comes hard on this.
"No where near tire, but had a good year." Sick line from Wiz. |

Always look forward to a Big Sean verse. Everyone else did their thing too, plus the production was crazy.

Impressive line up for sure. Each are upcoming and have loads of potential.
French handles his verse well and puts a solid chorus together too. Nipsey lays down a nice verse as well and Big Sean rounds out the end of the song really well. Wiz + Johnny Juliano = always sick. Enough said. A really sick song, not the most impressive lyrically but it at least proves the future of rap is in good hands. 3 1/2 stars |

This is pretty weak. I was sick of the hook at the end of my first listen. Not sure what else to say other than that nothing else was very good other than the production.

Songs like this always get me pumped up. When you hear the hook in the opening intro you will know what I mean. French Montana really went all out on this one I mean just look at the line up. Production Johnny Juliano was crazy and really coincides with that amped up feeling that I was talking about.
French spat a good verse, but Big Sean put forth the greatest effort in this track. Wiz Khalifa does not know how to let me down on a track, especially one like this. Hussle sounded good on this and he is a runner up for best verse. All together, banging production combined with an outstanding line up of guest features makes for one great record. |

extremely promising lineup and they sure as hell didnt let me down. nodding my head when the beat kicked in. montana came hard a nice with his verse and hook. khalifa also really fits in well with beat which is exceptional. nipsey i felt was probably the weakest of the four but he still did alright. big sean was my personal favourite though, his 16 were straight fire! 4.5 but ill round up

Banger, though I have to keep it real. I don't get the hype surrounding French's flow. It just sits there for me. Personally, I'm gonna have to go with Big Sean > Wiz > French > Nipsey.

P.S. I wonder if that graphic artist would mind hooking us up with some wordmarks based on these team logos (Just picture "Burmy" in the Brewers font-CLASSIC!)

This is good for the streets, but
I dont see it going beyond that. The hook is weak, the veres were nothing to talk about considering the talent that was on display. the only highlight was the production, and I couldnt help but think this instrumental wasn't meant for guest features, but for a single artist. |

Put 2 of my favorite up and coming rappers (Nipsey & Wiz) on a dope beat and you get a banger. Everyone else was straight too although the hook could have been a little bit better.

I'm gonna say what I say for every bad/annoying hook. Put Mike Posner on it. Hook aside, no one matches the energy of the production, but French just sounds tired. Good effort but a little disappointing considering the line up.

@Cardi - When I'm not "feelin" something that doesn't automatically mean its a "1"-caliber song. Why do you feel that way?
