The Godfather trilogy (well, parts 1 & 2, anyway) is widely considered the quintessential gangster film series; it was only a matter of time before a major-label rapper would heavily interpolate it’s theme song, Speak Softly Love. Roc-A-Fella‘s Freeway is the first to do so on Paper Gangsters, right down to an Italian-sounding hook and Marlon Brando impression in the intro. During the three verses, Free calls out the fakes, haters, and snitches; letting the listener know that he shares most other rappers’ contempt. Keep an open ear for more street anthems when Free At Last is released on November 20th.
Like Jay.. "He alright, but he's not real". For some reason I never really felt Freeway. Even after he toned down his high-pitched voice a few octaves. This beat is HOT. They should have given it to someone who could have RIPPED-IT.
I think Freeway is finally spitting how his voice was meant for him to spit. he used to rap all crazy with his voice and it was only sub-par lyrics...I think he is doing his thing big time now, and I haven't heard a weak Freeway track in over a year (since 50 cent got involved its been fire)
Amazing @*#$!!.. a great start.. wid da 'don' n the lyrics r just fly... straight down 2 earth kinda @*#$!! The beat is okay... though i think i could use a timba remix style to it.. but 4 freeway its aaite
I thought about it & had to log on again. NAS WOULDA MURDA this beat! Remember The Firm?!? AZ WOULDA been FIRE on this track! I'm not too sure about Fox Boogie. She fell off. If we could go back in time... "Firm Biz Baby..."
