When Freeway released his sophomore album, Free At Last, last November, widespread critical praise followed. In this era of cookie-cutter rap, Free distinguished himself as one of a few major emcees who puts his whole being into his work. On the newest buzz single from his upcoming junior album, Freedom of Speech, the Philly veteran steps up his metaphor game by comparing The Block in his hometown to a woman; though she had been there to support him for many years, he left her once the major fame and fortune came. Now independent once again, Free is ready to turn down all the big-time offers because he has his Baby Back. Produced by Blunt and featuring a short interpolation of the Chili’s restaurant jingle (near the end), Baby Back (The Block) leaves no doubt that Free is loyal to his streets.
Man, Freeway has NOT been disappointing lately. I'm loving the street soul vibe he is on. Blunt's production is really solid. I like this street ballad. It's not as classic-status as his last two singles, especially "Hustla's Prayer". But this is solid. I'm throwing this into rotation.
Freeway just keeps on impressing me. The man has literally been... here comes the most overused word of the last two years... grinding. The Blunt production is quality, its something I could hear Free's former boss, Jay, rock tightly. Looking forward to Freedom of Speech. Are you?
Freeway is comming strong, in fact the Roc boys are all makin quality tracks these days. Young Chris is killin um! This is some soul right here. I can see myself playin this around the house on a cool day.
freeway been realy goin hard wit leakn music..BUT its workn cus hese grown on me...DJBOOTH BEEN PUTTEN HIM ON but as long as its good as this im interested.
Hmm, I'm out of place here because I am not feeling this at all. I do like Freeway, but damn all of his s*it sounds the same. He needs to switch his style up, this is just a prime example of all of his other records. Looking for a little more creativity, this is a pass.
Production on this song is great, I'm feeling the music and the background sample. His flow is good! I don't usually listen to songs like this but this is rather good I must say! After a while it could bore me, but it's perfect to listen to when I wanna chill in rotation
omg this song is free at his best i love it he goin into his softhard core side this @*#$! is hot shouldda dropped his joint wit 50 and him @*#$! and this right after damn imiss free
