FreeSol - No 1 Can Stop Me
Featuring: Adam Tensta
Producer: Lounge Lizzards (Lasse Siegismund)
Album: Rock n Rolla Mixtape
Label: Tennman/Interscope
If, after hearing the Memphis ensemble flip classic cuts from such eclectic sources as the Doors and the Smashing Pumpkins into fresh, innovative hip-hop records, you still don’t believe that FreeSol are going places, then I’m not sure what to tell you – other than “Don’t get in their way.” Because, as frontman Free explains in new mixtape leak No 1 Can Stop Us, attempting to slow them down on their way to the top would be about as productive as throwing yourself in front of a freight train. This time around Lounge Lizzards (aka, Lasse Siegismund) mans the boards, serving up a catchy, string-laced pop-rock groove (sampled from… anyone know?) as Free thumbs his nose at the haters, describing himself as, “A trendsetter n*gga in a city full of hoes.” Swedish rapper Adam Tensta, not glimpsed in the Booth since April of 2008, takes over on the back end, showcasing a similarly dismissive attitude toward the doubters in an aggressively-flowed closing verse. For more genre-blending bangers, grab a copy of FreeSol’s DJBooth.net-sponsored Rock n Rolla street album when it hits our front page on June 21.

Production on this is tight. Fast paced flow sounds good on this. The rock feel on this sounds good too. The pulled it off.

At first with the "I got my swag back" line, I thought the group was gonnna be some cliche, wack rappers but they proved me wrong. All of their verse were good and they all have flows that work well with each other, Like Bone Thugs. The hook was great and the beat at the end made the song even better.

Really feeling this, it's great to hear more and more groups redefining the boundaries of hip-hop, which ideally shouldn't have any boundaries. Soul, independent musical thought, Freesol is an aptly-named crew.

There is just something about FreeSol. As I have said before, I am a fan.
@Hoamboy - Its easy to fall into that trap, but I am glad you looked past the initial cliche line and took a full listen! |

Only gripe would be weak hook-writing, but that’s just nitpicking... 3.5 and I'll round up!!

Very formulaic idea, not executed with much original thought, not impressed.
