Like any self-respecting rapper, the life of Entourage star Vincent Chase is filled with beautiful women and luxuries. What’s more, from Saigon’s regular role to the introduction of Charles Hamilton to the larger world, every week HBO’s hit show seems to be aimed at giving a “new” hip-hopper their shine. This past week, as Vinny Chase courted AV model Sasha Grey, Freesol got their chance to shine as Don’t Give It Away played during the credits. The Memphis-based group, whose DJ Benzi-hosted mixtape RockNRolla is available on the DJBooth now, recruits hitmaker Jim Jonsin on the production here, resulting in a sound – check the spacey production and piano keys lurking in the background - that reminds me of Timbaland and Static Major in the late ‘90s. Even better, Freesol’s lyrics and flow more than hold their own, while the catchy hook seems to be the brightest element in the mix, giving us a great song overall. While Don’t Give It Away is only a promo single, with momentum like this an album can’t be far off.

I honestly love everything about FreeSol and where they're headed musically. In the 5 short days since they got their shine on Entourage, their RockNRolla mixtape has absolutely crushed it. Expect them to do big big things in the near future.

a hypnotic vibe that reminds me of timbo (see above)...which could make more sense than not that they were picked up by Justin Timberlake back in '06. great record.

I can't put my finger on what it is, but I am really into this track. The hook is pretty mellow, and there are no lyrical or vocal acrobatics. Nonetheless, I loved the vibe of the track.

Another great record, the Booth's killing it today. As I've written before, a lot of artists try to do the rock/rap hybrid thing and end up sounding forced. Not FreeSol. The blend of styles feels so organic. Dope.
Side note: You know who would have been incredible on this track? Twista. Think about it. Yep, that's an incredible call by me. Let's make it happen on the remix fellas. Side note 2: Entourage has fallen off so hard I don't barely watch anymore. It has its moments, but it's nowhere as good as the early seasons.

This is a TIGHT track. It flows so well for me and only reinforces the fact that Entourage does introduce some great artist. Being a student, I can't afford HBO so I rely on DJBooth.net to keep me up to date on the happenings in the music world.
